I was a moderator of a private eBay group that disbanded around 2011. I’ve kept the group bookmarked and refer to our discussion threads from time to time as it was a wealth of information. Today I tried to use the bookmark but my access was denied. Does anyone know if private groups still exist in the eBay community or are they gone for good? We had over 400 members from around the world and I’d love to get the membership list printed.
Thanks for your help.

Thanks for hopping in @pburn @*coins and @lacemaker3.
@yogiw the Groups re-org was done long before I was on the team, but private groups are certainly still an option. The URL from the book should contain the name of the group. Can you post the group name, or the URL and I can look into it?
If it is gone, you'd have to start a new group. The good news is within the next few months we should be seeing much improved and updated groups functionality.

Can you tell us what you will be changing?
It would be cool if you could put some of the boards that got changed into groups in a better spot because they are hard to get to as they are buried. I think some people would really enjoy reading and posting to some of them if they weren't so hard to get to. Just my two cents.

You all have been so helpful...thank you @pburn @*coins @lacemaker3 and doug@ebay.
The name of our group is Joan's Vintage Charms and Charm Bracelets.
The bookmark of the URL I have is https://community.ebay.com/t5/Joan-s-Vintage-Charms-Charm/gp-p/g-306.
🤞🏻 Fingers crossed that we'll be able to access the group again. It was started in 2003. About 45 of us migrated to Facebook in 2010 but like I said, we had about 425+ members from all over the world and I would like to touch base with the membership if I can get back to the list.
Thanks again for all your help.

I would expect it to be at one of these:
https://community.ebay.com/t5/Jewelry-Watches/ct-p/1117
https://community.ebay.com/t5/Crafts/ct-p/1100002959
but I don't see it. I also ran a Google search for "Joan's Vintage Charms and Charm Bracelets", but didn't see it.
Maybe there is a way for Doug to get it back if it was deleted.

I had hoped that it would still be available in an archived state, at least, but the error message says "Access denied".
I was able to find a blog which mentions the group in several posts, for example, the one linked to below. This confirms the existence and name of the group, and provides some more information. But mostly, this is just more confirmation that the group used to exist.

Unfortunately, it is possible that the group was closed around 2011. There were major changes and reorganizations to the groups at that time, which was when the community as a whole was migrated to Lithium, and the community members were not consulted about the changes. I don't know about that particular group, but I was involved in several private groups at that time, and we (the organizers of the groups) decided to close them all and delete them completely from eBay. So it is possible that this group was closed at that time as well.

Hi @yogiw this group was among some that were archived over the past few months due to lack of traffic and interactivity. If you would like to re-open the group and you think there will be traffic and interaction, let me know.
Lithium will be improving groups functionality within the next few months, and at that time we'll be looking into launching that function in the Community and looking into improving the groups experience, and navigation.

@*coins the new groups are still in development at Lithium, but we're excited about the new functionality previews we've see. They should have many more options than they do now. We've also been talking about looking at the navigation and improving group's visibility and navigation.
