Complaining again.....

Just a gripe about the animated/blinking Ebay open announcement picture.....whatever you call it, at the top of the board......blinking stuff really bothers me....I can't see a way to shut it off?  Have nothing against Open, will attend....but the presentation is a turn off.........for me.

Thanks for any help........

Re: Complaining again.....

Blinking?

Normally I use an ad blocker with an element hiding tool to block a lot of the clutter at the top of the page, but viewing the page on another browser, I do not see anything blinking, just a static logo.

This logo?

If that is the one, see if adding this rule to your ad blocker's custom filter rules blocks it:

community.ebay.com/t5/image/serverpage/image-id/711212i23EEC028FFAD77E0/image-size/large?v=v2&px=999

[There may be more than one, so you may have to create your own rule to block it.]

If you are using Ad Block Plus, that would be found under Advanced, My Filter List, paste that line in to the text field, then use the "Add" button to create a new rule, . Refresh the board page to see if it goes away.

Using Ad Block (not Plus), I can remove the whole ad row using this rule:

community.ebay.com##DIV[class="lia-quilt-row lia-quilt-row-main-top"]

Re: Complaining again.....

Thanks eburton.......I did just go put ad blocker on and that works........it was showing to me as a "fireworks" type display, falling squares in bright colors, quick blinks.......  that kind of thing just makes me jumpy....even alot of the smiley animations do...... too old I guess.......

Nah, sounds like you have a sensitivity to motion web animation/motion/flashing. Nothing wrong with that.

Depending on what browser you are using, most have an option to turn these off too for epileptic folks.

Re: Complaining again.....

You are most welcome, glad that helped.

After playing around with an ad blocker, and using the element hiding tool extensively to block various page elements and headers, I find that I no longer have any tolerance at all for even minor distracting images, much less ads that are in motion in the periphery of my vision.

Not too long ago Firefox had an issue that caused all browser extensions to fail, including my ad blocker. I found that I could not get anything productive done until I had recreated most of my custom ad blocking rules in another browser.

@eburtonlab

Any recommendations on how to pre-emptively block those animated memes posted by some of the members? I find those so irritating (and inappropriate, IMO).
