Just revised a variations listing where I have music cd's for sale. Checked it out after the revision and now the drop down menu is gone and there are thumbnails a user has to look through to find a particular cd. Not sure if I like this change as it's more hunting than getting straight to the item desired. Shouldn't text be king or is everything being designed for pretty pics on a phone nowadays?! I prefer my desktop setup over my phone any time of day and optimization and simplicity was once the gold standard of web design. Items that sold appear to be greyed out thumbnails.

My variations listings still all have the drop down menu for color, size, flavor, etc.
Could this be a temporary glitch?

Here is a similar blu-ray listing of mine to show the drop-down menu gone and new thumbnail interface. If someone goes to a used video store, don't they have everything sorted alphabetically or does one scan through the entire inventory to find the movie they want? I don't think I like this change at all.

OMG! Thats HORRIBLE!!!! I just checked one of my listings. I do NOT like it at ALL!!!! You have to literally hover over each one to see the number on my trading cards. I HATE NEW INTERN SEASON!!!! I wish they wouldn't fix what wasn't broken and fix what obviously is!!!! GREAT....Guess we'll see how my sales go now. I wonder what it looks like on the app......checking.....
ok on the app it actually doesn't look too bad. The thumbnail is right next to the number. Wish it would look like that on the classic site. My buyers go by numbers, not pictures. (I mean, when you select a number the picture comes up to the left...but usually they are looking for a particular number.) Who's going to scroll through hundreds of singles to find the right number. Not everyone with a missing card will know what it looks like.
Thank you for bringing this out for attention. I probably wouldn't have known unless I revised one of my listings.

And you know what else I found...one one my listings, a card picture was replaced with a picture of a record album that said "music of India" and a bunch of India CDs behind it.
What the heck is going on??? I deleted it and replaced it with the right picture.

Thanks for the feedback! It doesn't work well for my listings either. Errors when I hovered over the grayed out thumbnails now seem to be fixed so maybe they are working on it? Either way, put it back. Make this an optional listing type. My item description doesn't fit this new interface...uggh!

Maybe they are fixing it so sellers will stop abusing the variation listings.
Those are not variations, they are completely different items.

This is horrible. Some variation listings have more than 100 trading cards. If you scroll down too much to "hover" you don't see the number of the card. This is freakin insane!!!!

How am I abusing anything? Has eBay put out a memo not to do this? If so, I didn't see it anywhere. I see lots of listings set up like mine...it's where I got the idea. I'm probably taking the variation listings down because it's a lot of work to do this and I'm not seeing much reward from the hours I'm investing. Probably best to list each item separately but I liked the idea of people being able to buy multiple items and having the shipping update to reflect the various quantities.

Sorry to hear and I agree! I was going to build another auction tonight but now I don't know if it's worth it until I see what this is going to end up being. I'm just surprised they allowed this to change to affect 'already live' auctions. My auction now has errors because of this. Hope any changes you may have to make are minimal!

Im on chat now. At first he didn't know about the update, then he found it. He switched me over to someone else. I'm letting them know this is not a user friendly format for trading cards. I'm so aggravated right now. I wont make any changes, but I guess I'll be listing my cards one at a time......that should be fun....some unfinished sets have 100+ cards....listing each one separately will take me a lifetime!!!!!

Thx for reaching out to them! I'm just too tired to deal with it tonight or I would have. Hoping for a good solution.

Well, he wasn't much help, I just asked if there was someone who could take my opinion about this change because I certainly don't agree with the format. What buyer wants to hover over 10's or 100's of thumbnails? Its insane. He sounded like he didn't know anything, but we had a lovely chat LOL. I'm sorry this is happening to you too. Hopefully you don't have to do too much damage control. I guess we'll see how it affects our sales. Things have been slow lately, but I've still gotten orders. All I know is...if I was a buyer, I'd give up half way down the list and just message the seller if they have #this or #that before I spent all that time 'hovering' over each thumbnail. What a nightmare that will be!!!
