transaction defect rate

My ebay is listed as "below standard", but I have 100 percent positive feedback. It says it is below standard because of transaction defect rate. The reason I have canceled a few items is because some of my buyers will say "I can't pay for this" or just straight up ask me to cancel the transaction. I always say I will because I like to keep my ebay 100 percent positive and like to be easy to work with. Every time I would cancel I didn't think the reason for cancellation mattered so I would just put the reason for "item out of stock" most of the time even though it was the buyer most of the time that asked me to cancel for them. Now this has negatively affected my ebay and it might be shut down because I have an evaluation today. Can ebays help center or customer service please help me.

Well, at least now you know and can avoid more defects.

Feedback is not counted at all in your service metrics.
If you canceled as Out of stock that would be why your transaction defect rate put you below standard. If buyers were requesting to cancel you state just that..there’s no defect for that.

If you have returns that you “let eBay handle” there’s defects for that as well. Never let eBay handle your returns, always accept them even against your better judgment and issue refunds after receiving the item back. Or refund with requiring the items return.
Your seller dashboard will tell you where your transaction defects are.

Item Out of Stock is probably one of the worst defects you can get on eBay. If you' re lucky enough to survive this evaluation with just a short suspension never use that as a reason to cancel the sale unless it is actually true.

You should always use buyer requested sale cancelation if that's what they requested.

Feedback really has no bearing unless you have multiple negative feedbacks.

Good luck.

Wow. The reason for cancellation always matters... that's why there are reasons. I don't know how you come out from under several OOS cancellations. As a matter of fact, I thought you only got 2 per year before being sanctioned... but maybe I'm wrong.

Moving forward, use the correct cancellation reasons. 'Buyer requested' if they did; 'Buyer didn't pay' if they don't.

A few cancel items out of stock would do that. As you have auctions you wait 4+ days and cancel the sale if bidders don't pay...reason is bidder did not pay. I would not listen to what bidders say. It's a cancel auction due to bidder not paying. Sounds strange because now winning bidders will be auto charged if they don't pay in a certain time frame.

You might slip this time...it be very close...its not expensive stuff you are selling...maybe...but not much to do other than calling eBay...and not sure that would help.

Not sure what is your below standard is....mine is 55 % because I don't do much mailing with tracking.

If I were you I would contact ebay  service through Facebook or Twitter.  List the transactions that you cancelled at your buyers requests using out of stock as a reason.  They might be willing to check your message to confirm that the buyer did ask for the sale to be cancelled.  You can send them a message giving them all of the information and they should get back to you in a day or two.

The reps there are often a bit more knowledgeable than the phone reps.

Don't panic just yet... try what @pjcdn2005 recommends.

I was put on a 3-day hiatus once after two OOS cancellations... but I was truthful. At that time, eBay advised me to use the time to get a handle on my inventory. Fingers crossed for you! 🤞
