I am mailing a box of books..the pay pal label adds on the cost of mailing one book.  I'm assuming I have to make my own label but how will  e bay know that I've actually mailed the item?

Why are you printing out a paypal label?

Normally...

You sell something on ebay.

You print out a ebay shipping label.

Ebay automatically assigns the tracking number to the sale.

Ebay knows when it is shipped and when it is received.

If you purchase your label on Paypal in the event you had a listing in a category that Ebay does not allow for media mail, then you simply add the tracking number provided by Paypal to Ebay on the drop down menu found next to each sold item.

Open My eBay, in the drop down, the item you have sold. Manually enter the tracking number mark shipped. You are using the correct weight and box size when you make your label at Media Mail rate? Are you printing a label or just handwriting one? If you are handwriting the label you would take to Post Office and pay there, not Pay-Pal, but would still manually enter the tracking number and mark shipped.

You can just change the package weight on the label preparation form.
