Selling on ebay is great! It can make you wealthy beyond your wildest dreams! Since i started selling on ebay i have been able to buy myself a new car and even a new house. I don't have to worry about money anymore. Oh wait. You live in Sri Lanka. Nevermind.

As you are living in Sri Lanka selling on eBay is not an option for you as your government does not allow Paypal for acceptance of funds

There is little you can do since you are based in Sri Lanka. If you try to sell here you are going to have issues getting paid. I am assuming you would not ship without payment and that is going to **bleep** off customers. Get your government to fix their issues with linkages to your bank accounts before you list ANYTHING for sale.

Guys, I've seen so many posts from SL and the response is typically "Well, you can't be part of our thing here". Then everyone dogpiles on top of that. It's not like there's a trade embargo. It's Sri Lanka, not Syria. Maybe have a little tact. I'm not sure what the sales pitch was over there, but many people legitimately want to sell here. No need to just "Shoo".

But they can't sell here until they get the problems worked out with accepting payments. We can't go to Sri Lanka and storm the castle of their banking laws and change it for them.
They have been posting for a very long time on the New To Ebay boards and we have tried to be helpful there. Now those boards are gone so they are coming here with the same old questions that we answered a year ago.

Ohhh Yaahhh🤡

Most of the responses I see are cordial and it's not that they can't be part of our "thing" here they are currently able to buy just like anyone else they just can't sell at the moment. People are becoming frustrated at answering the same questions from a increasing number of Sri Lanka users asking the same exact questions that if they took the time to read through some of the eBay help they should be able to figure out for themselves.
Most people are not telling them to shoo but simply stating the facts and that is their government currently has banking restrictions in place that prohibit linking individual banking accounts to Paypal. While Payoneer and Sri Lanka have reached an agreement that will allow the receipt of funds but I am not sure eBay has reached an agreement with Payoneer and even if they have or do there have been some major issues with Payoneer including the latest
Payoneer card users have begun complaining en masse about losing access to their funds, not being able to withdraw their money, etc. The problem appears to be issues with the company Wirecard and about a week ago it was found to have falsified reports inflating its financial results by approximately 1.9 billion.
Probably not a company I would have a lot of faith in as far as handling financial transactions.

Just this morning, in the last couple of hours, I’ve seen TWELVE posts from Sri Lanka users about starting to sell here. A couple of them haven’t liked the answers they’ve gotten, so keep reposting the same question. I’ve been trying to convince them that we know what we’re talking about, we’ve been dealing with this issue for a long time, and we’ve seen what happens when they do try to sell here (the inevitable “why was my account suspended” post).

No.

They may want to sell legitimately (but since most of them are dropshipping penny items from China I doubt it) but most of them aren't legitimately looking for answers when they post on the boards, they are just looking to up their post count and give and get the helpful post because whoever sold them their get rick on ebay scheme told them post count and helpful votes received mattered when selling.
Then, when they all spam the boards with the same questions over and over (just wait till they're actually all copy pasted like they were on the New To eBay boards) it becomes disruptive and is pushing legitimate questions off the first page. That's more the reason why responders are flippant in their answers to those posts.

I think that is what s really going on. Someone in Sri Lanka is selling them a package that is supposed to let them sell on Ebay. (Its ALWAYS Sri Lanka. 195 countries in the world but only Sri Lanka is swamping us with these posts.) The ones who do actually get listings up are selling dropship garbage from China. It looks like they hit the wall on the payment side - and I know its because they cannot accept payments due to some goofy dispute with the government there - but by that time they have paid their money to the Get rich quick guy or some fly by night Internet website so its too late.
Just once I wish one of them would tell us how they got into that situation to begin with - but so far I have not seen any Sri Lanka seller who will reply to explain that and who knows enough English to carry on a conversation about it here.

There was a post awhile back from a Sri Lanka user who actually explained the whole thing. He said that there’s a large number of the 18 - 25 year old crowd that are really into the idea of some get rich quick online scheme. There are people convincing them that selling online will enable them to buy Mercedes and bmw’s, etc. The Sri Lanka rupee is equal to about 0.05 American. These people are really falling for this belief that they can easily sell online and make tons of money, and they’re ready to buy into the whole idea. I’ll have to see if I can find the original post.

Personally I have put about as much effort in responding to these individuals as I care to. They can look at what has already been posted on the boards and read the information from eBay that is available to them or do a Google search.
If we quit responding maybe they will quit posting the same questions over and over.
