anyone else think it's too steep, the charges, i mean paypal is an ebay company, they take 2% plus ebay takes ALL KINDS OF FEE'S so many you cant keep them all straight final value, insertion, etc etc, and you have to rely on ebay to be honest and not charge or refund when they are supposed to on those fee's too much to read to figure it all out, why cant they just make it simple like paypal...we charge you 2% or 5% of what your item sells for and 1.00 to list the item, or something along those lines.... i just got hit for 95.00 worth of fee's auto debited from my account, when i have only sold about 400.00 worth of stuff, and the other thing i found out is if you buy shipping through fedex...it isnt deducted immediately like USPS,so if you mis estimate, or miscalculate and don't have enough shipping, fedex will still deliver the item but they bill ebay for the price and ebay bills you, i had an instance where fedex changed the shipping method, ie from ground to home delivery, i paid for ground by ebays price listed but i neglected to put in the measurements of the box, just the weight, and they changed it.

well i chose ground, or parcel select or whatever, and they changed it to something else, it flat out said the method, and the cost, to which i didn't select or choose, why would i agree to pay 65.00 shipping on an item i sold for 20.00 and charged 19.50 shipping based on ebay when i put in the weight LOL point was, they charged without permission, when i take it to the counter and they WEIGH it they see the measurement, at that time "sir you dont have enough postage on this if you want me to ship this you owe me ______ but i wasnt given that opportunity

The fact that you can't differentiate between stale information and current information on the internet does not change the ownership status of PayPal.

Again, you lack understanding about how Fedex charges are accrued.
eBay does not know what surcharges Fedex is going to add, because in many cases Fedex determines the amount of the surcharges AFTER they have the package in hand.
Keep in mind that I'm not saying it is a good system, or a fair system, or a transparent system. I'm just telling you how it is.

Could you post a link to whatever it was you were reading that said that? Was it a source from earlier than around 2014/2015?

That article says that eBay is dumping PayPal as a partner for processing payments, not as a company they own.
Read the wikipedia article

and follow the citations in the section that says:
Spin-off from eBay (2014–present)
It was announced on September 30, 2014, that eBay would spin off PayPal into a separate publicly traded company, a move demanded in 2013 by activist hedge fund magnate Carl Icahn. The spin-off was completed on July 18, 2015.[45][46][47] Dan Schulman is the current president and CEO, with former eBay CEO John Donahoe serving as chairman.[44]
For heaven's sake, can't you just admit that you were mistaken?

OP must not have read the article s/he him/herself posted:
"It proved to be a very successful investment. When eBay spun off PayPal in 2015 -- something investors and analysts had urged it to do -- the payments company's market value was close to $50 billion."

No they cannot, that's why I stopped responding. This person just wants to complain but doesn't want to hear any actual advice or suggestions on how to save money. We are simply trying to help them but they are intent on arguing.... SMH....

ROTFL.

exactly so if i told you "ill ship that for 6.00 you pay me the 6.00 and then after i ship it i bill you another 16.00 because of "surcharges" that i didn't disclose to you, you probably wont want my services anymore, but the thing they are doing now, is they all partner together i have had stuff being shipped via ups and they hand it off to USPS to deliver so i pay shipping and think im doing business with one entity and in turn it's another, shady if you ask me

You need to understand the Glitch before you can fix it. You don't understand what your doing wrong until you do you will continue to fail and probably lose $$$ on your sales. The other sellers are just trying to help you and you just argue with them. This all seems counterproductive to me.

Correct, I wouldn't.
That is exactly why I choose not to ship with UPS or with Fedex through eBay, and not to use the eBay shipping calculator.
When I read the disclaimer on eBay's shipping calculator that it is just an estimate and that rates might change and surcharges might apply, I chose to set my own shipping rates.
Disclaimer: This shipping calculator is intended for informational use only and does not include all potential applicable fees. By using shipping calculator, you acknowledge that eBay is making no representations or guarantees regarding actual fee and sales amounts and that the results are estimates only.

i mean paypal is an ebay company,
No it isn't.
Paypal was spun off about five years ago. That is one reason eBay is introducing the Managed Payments program.
they take 2% plus ebay takes ALL KINDS OF FEE'S
Paypal charges 30cents per transaction PLUS 2.9% for domestic transactions and up to 4.4% if the buyer is using a non-US PP account.
FEE'S
Fees is a plural and does not take an apostrophe.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apostrophe_Protection_Society
And then I just gave up.
Feel better soon.

AS FAR AS I CAN TELL, EBAY IS TAKING SINCE THE MANAGED PAYMENTS CHANGE CLOSE TO 20% OF EACH SALE ( AND I GET A TRS DISCOUNT ) . IT SAYS THAT AT THE BOTTOM OF YOUR MONTHLY INVOICE ... ALSO PAYPAL TAKES CLOSE TO 5% .. BUT THAT IS FACTORED IN SINCE YOU CAN PAY MANY WAYS NOW

When you print a label on eBay forFedex you check a box that says you are aware of the terms of using FedEx. There is a link to the terms of using FedEx within the pop up. The fees for FedEx ground and Home Delivery are very similar. You probably got charged dimensional weight versus actual weight of the package. Dimensional weight comes into play when your package occupies more space than what it should based on actual weight per formula used by FedEx, USPS, and UPS. FedEx and UPS has used it at least 20 years. The post office has also started using it for their Priority Express and Priority mail. If you print a label for the USPS on eBay and they determined that your package weight was more or you didn’t enter dimensions of the package accurately when you printed the label on eBay they will charge ebay for difference. Ebay will then add the difference for USPS to your monthly bill just like they do for FedEx. I think many sellers get confused when they enter the dimensions of their package on eBay and it comes back with a fee a lot higher than what they were expecting. They then take out the dimensions of their package and just leave the weight of the package in the calculator and the drops to something closer to what they were expecting because they didn’t know about dimensional weight.
I learned my lesson on dimension weight over 20 years ago. I had customer who wanted me to ship an item UPS Next Day air that I knew weighted 2 pounds. I was in a hurry meet the deadline to get the package to UPS and the only box I had a very large box. So I packed the item with the very large box with a lot of packing peanuts figuring the weight of the big box and peanuts added 1 pound to the weight.
2 weeks later I get my UPS bill and I noticed charge for $128.00. At first I thought it must be some kind of error. As luck with have it my regular UPS driver comes by and I asked him about it and he gives me a lesson on dimensional weight.
