Were both items you sold cancelled?
If you cancelled through eBay then your final value fees would have been credited so we're missing a piece of the puzzle here. You either didn't cancel through eBay or the fees are for something else.
What does eBay say the $80 fees are for- final value fees or listing fees (like a reserve or another listing fee that's non-refundable)?

Another new seller selling more expensive items and not knowing what to do in bad circumstances.

No, closing your account will not fix this problem. You have incurred a debt that will follow you even if you close your account. I see you have two sales so far and if they did not go thru, then you have to talk to eBay to get those fees credited back.
Canceling a transaction should automatically get your Final Value fee credited back to your account. If that didn't happen, then you need to call eBay Customer Service and explain what happened. They can walk you thru whatever steps are necessary to get your fees back.
When someone doesn't pay, you need to open an Unpaid Item Dispute. This also automatically gets your seller fees returned to you as well as gives your non-oaying buyer a strike in his account.
when i help family and friends learn how to sell here, i recommend they start small and save their expensive items for later. It is easy to lose your item and your payment if you don’t know what you are doing.
I strongly urge you to read up on how to sell on eBay before you do anything more. There are links below to help you get started. Good luck.

That is true. My son sold his childhood Pokemon collection for $100 and sent it first class. Buyer claimed it arrived damaged and asked for money back. Son received ripped up cards minus the most valuable ones. After some back and forth, Ebay credited the buyer. Son is out both cards and money. His first sale. He was too discouraged to try to push it any further. I know there were a few other paths he could try, but he was just like forget it.

What is the $80 for? Not for a $400 coat!

He's 22. Works in Hospitality and is a very ethical person. He's seen me doing some Ebay and thought he'd try it. Someone said in another post that there seem to be fewer younger folks getting involved here. Well, that's what happened when one young person took a stab at it.

He sounds like an awesome person. You must be very proud of him. I hate to hear his first selling effort was such a discouraging one.

-Ebay collects the final value fee when your item "sells", even if the buyer doesn't pay.
Since you canceled after the item was "bought" I don't know how that works. What was the reason you gave for canceling? Ebay does say that if you and the buyer agree to cancel, your fees will be refunded.
To get your fees refunded from ebay in the future, it's better to Report an unpaid item claim in the resolution center.
https://resolutioncenter.ebay.com
You also said "i tried to sell a product but the buyer refused to pay" , so I am assuming that it was one product order that was listed at $800? (if it was a 10% final value fee.)
-I don't believe that ebay will allow you to close an account if there is a balance owing.
Another scenario is that ebay thinks you took the sale off-ebay and sold it, to avoid paying their fees, especially if you exchanged messages with the buyer with phone numbers, addresses, or other flags.
What did ebay say, if anything?
I would call ebay and explain and ask for mercy! Maybe they would remove the charges?

Resolving unpaid items with buyers:
Resolution Center
https://resolutioncenter.ebay.com/
"I sold an item."
"I haven't received my payment yet."
Normally you can open a case in the resolution center, but it looks like you sold these two items over a month ago. You missed the window to open a case.
"You need to report a case within 32 days of the listing ending."
I recommend calling eBay immedaitely to see if there is anything that can be done now. You cannot close an account without paying the outstanding balance.
