Yes, it is hard to offer sympathy or understanding if you don't even know what happened.  The possibilities are endless and not always Ebay's fault.

My bad Customer Experience is well documented here.

Not sure what happened to the OP, but the narrative of the post is trending more and more ... and eBay needs to reverse this trend soon.

So ya don't buy, don't sell, but feel you have enough "wisdom" to share with those who do.... alrighty then

I have friends and family that sell and I've purchased over 1000 items in an 8+ year span as a Buyer (up until early 2019).   I was also invited to eBay Headquarters last year to meet the Leadership Team, to provide feedback to help improve eBay.

So yes, I feel that I have enough "wisdom" to share with my fellow eBay Members.  Smiley Wink

Since your are relatively new to the boards I can tell you it has always been here for complaints. Rarely does someone come here that has no complaints. The boards consist of  a fraction of 1% of the Ebay population.

Actually less than 1% as we have about 6.7 US sellers and I don't know how many of the reported 180 million active buyers are US based.  Then there are those international members that come to the US site as well.  At this moment there are just under 7,000 members logged into the threads.  That certainly doesn't mean they are all posting, but they are hear reading and surfing or whatever it is they are doing if not posting.

6.7 US sellers??  Did we lose them all when Wenig resigned? Smiley Indifferent

I know you probably meant to say 6.7 Million. Smiley Happy

Don't forget ... the number of Board Members logged-in at any given time is not the number to use.  It's the number of Community Board Members who have posted over a period of time (i.e. 1 year, if you're using the 2017 US Sellers number of 6.7 Million).

That's hysterical, man. You think the large amount of site bugs are new in 2019? It's been this way for a while. I guess what they say is true about ignorance being bliss.

@616joe1driver22

eBay is very buyer-centric and it's hard for a buyer to get scammed here and not made financially whole. If you're having problems then you are not following eBay's MBG procedures. Post about your problem and people here will help guide you through the process. Include dates.

Sorry about your experience here.

Sadly, after 9 years of frequent buying here, I also had a very bad experience with a bad high volume seller and eBay did not handle it properly (and the seller is still here).  That's one of the reasons I stopped buying here.

I'm still hoping that a new Leadership Team will come in and make positive changes, to improve the buying (and selling) experience at eBay.

All they care about is $$$.  As long as they are getting money, they can care less about both buyers and sellers.  They may say they care, but never do anything.  Until the number of users drop to a point that their profits drop, then they might, or they might just sell the site to the highest bidder and walk away.

Yes, I'm very familiar with eBay, as I lived nearby their San Jose Headquarters and watched it being built.  I've been an eBay member since 2010 and a very frequent Buyer and limited Seller (to help a family member due to a health issue).

Whatever flooded the Boards over the years, I wasn't reading, as I was happily buying for many years until 2019.

2019 is very different year, and the year I joined Community Boards.  It's also the year that eBay has been flooded by Technical Issues, Glitches and Customer Concerns.

Hopefully the New Leadership Team will step-up to make eBay better.

Hopefully, but I wouldn't hold my breath.  What little time I have been active on here, it went from an easy and fun experience, to a nightmare in a hurry.   In that time, not only has eBay changed policy like a newborn in diapers, but their customer service team has hit the ranks of the Cincinnati Bengals (The Bengals might have a leg up on them because at least the Bengals try).  Eventually things can't any worse.  They can get worse then they are now, but eventually the death-spiral has to stop at some point.  Hopefully.

Even without a detailed explanation it is easy to understand this posters gripes.

I have been buying from sellers in China for years.  This year almost every seller begins their auctions showing a $1.00 cent bid by an anonymous bidder.

private listing - bidders' identities protected US $11.38 29 Sep 2019 at 6:53:20PM PDT rocklen60c7 US $10.88 1 Oct 2019 at 6:38:44PM PDT rocklen60c7 US $8.88 1 Oct 2019 at 6:38:31PM PDT private listing - bidders' identities protected US $1.00 25 Sep 2019 at 4:59:52PM PDT Starting Price US $0.01 24 Sep 2019 at 11:24:49PM PDT

When I bid the anonymous bids continue until the seller, apparently, gets the price they want and this is usually above retail value.

I contend that these sellers are rigging the auctions to their advantage.  I have called this to the attention of eBay and they don't give a **bleep**.

Another problem are the Chinese sellers now who put very valuable items up for "buy it now" at very low attractive prices.  They post the same items on two or three accounts.  Sell all the items.  Ship empty packages or with a cheap piece of junk inside, and take all the money and disappear, only to reopen later under an different disguise.

Ebay, once again, could care less as the bottom line is the drug that keeps them going.

Been a member since 1996! Really does not matter how long does it?

What matters is that in real time Ebay sucks.

Ebay protects the China sellers, they are not held to the same criteria as the U.S. sellers. We can all thank Meg Ryan for bringing in that huge market many years ago.

Following the feedback you left for other sellers, the one who ripped you off has a record of using a tracking number that goes to a different state and never shipping the product they claimed to have.

If you already lost an item not received claim then call eBay to appeal. Make them look at the tracking and the fact that the ID was kicked off the site. If you're past the time frame with eBay then go to PayPal to file a claim and call them as soon as you file the claim so you get human eyes on the false tracking. This should be a slam dunk for you.

eBay should have this number.  Maybe someday they'll let us know? Smiley Happy
