I think you have me confused with some other poster.  I didn't say anything about how long anyone has been on the site.  I never say stuff like that.

I understood what @rocklen60c7  was saying, was that they have been a member since 1996.

AHHH!

That's what it was...

I was just going to reply to this and say that @mam98031 did not say anything about 1996...I looked all over and could not find a reference to 1996.  Great sleuthing @greg5000 !

Except according to the ID they are posting with, they did not start with Ebay in 1996.  Their account was set up in 1999 and their join the community here in 2006.  But maybe they have another ID.  IDK.

Oh!  Well then...the mystery remains...

Then we just ask @rocklen60c7  what does 1996 mean? thinking

BTW @mam98031 I have been having to sign back in a million times this evening...way more than the usual glitch has me/us do...are you having this issue?  (Okay, so maybe not a million times, but close...Smiley Tongue)

No I haven't had any problems with that today.  Months ago I remember that happening.  But not in recent memory.

Just to make sure, go check your site preferences and make sure they didn't somehow change.  There is a setting for keeping you logged in.

Lucky you...it's been going on for some of us for about a week now...nice little thread on it...

Re: I am so tired of having to log in to the boards constantly now.

Alan & Doug @ eBay are aware of the situation and is working with Khoros to fix it.  it's just been way more than usual tonight/this morning.

...and it just happened again as i was going to hit the post button...

That pesky authentication warning is annoying but easy to deal with.  If you get it, just click your back button ONCE.  That takes you back to the screen you entered your response in and what you typed should be there.  Click the Post button again and it should post.

It works 99.999% of the time for me and I've gotten that darn thing a lot over the past few days.

Yes the mystery remains is it 1996 or 1999?  Or, was it a typo and we just flip the last 6 to make it work?  Smiley Indifferent

Community Boards is having another Red Banner night.  Almost every other post I try to reply to or mark helpful results in a Red Banner Error Message (including this one).

Also had to sign back in multiple times and saw a brand new "Your Request Is Currently Being Processed" Swirly Bar. Smiley Frustrated

It's happening often to me and many others (who are reporting it on other threads and here).  Tonight it's worse than it's ever been. Smiley Indifferent

There are multiple issues:

  • Red Banner Authentication Error, when trying to reply to a post.
  • Red Banner Sorry Error Message, when trying to mark a post helpful.
  • Getting kicked out and having to sign back in.
  • And a new "Your Request Is Currently Being Processed" Swirly Bar.

There may be some nuances the way this problem occurs for different users on different computer platforms.  For me the Red Banner Authentication Error pops up before I post (as I'm typing my reply).  When I hit the Back Button I go back to the thread, and have to hit Reply again ... and I lose whatever I typed (except occasionally, if it was auto-saved and the stars are all aligned).  I have to save  a copy and paste my reply, and sometimes it takes three attempts.  Others are reporting the same thing.  The method that works for you 99.999% of the time works 0% of the time for me.

But the good news is ... that we both found a work-around that works for both of us!  Smiley Happy

Now, if only eBay could fix all these incredibly annoying Technical Issues ... that would be great!!

Re: scammers

Hello Guys,

I sell stuff (watches) on eBay since 2005.

These days I sold a watch for $850 shipped to a guy in Canada, nickname gro015, and this guy even knowing the watch conditions before purchase, decided to open a return.

After a long conversation I offered him $150 to close the case. He denied and request eBay to step in.

I never handled before with this situation: always solved the case without eBay’s help.

I talked to the guy, and we decided I will refund the value and he will return the item. After I refund the value the guy simply disappeared and not responded my messages anymore.

I requested eBay’s help and they said to talk to the buyer and that eBay could not do anything about that (as in the message attached), but the buyer do not respond to my messages.

I decided to stop selling on eBay after this case.

Very bad to be fooled by these scammers and eBay do not help us!

regards

So sorry this has happened to you.  There have been some unsavory characters buying (and selling) on eBay lately.  One of the things not to do is refund someone without them sending the item back first.

Although...they can just send an empty box or a box of rocks and with a tracking number, ebay will make you refund them anyway...

No different than you feeling entitled to be judgemental toward this poster. You have the right to post. So do they.

Re: scammers

Plenty of scammers on amazon. Amazon just doesnt help them get away with it. Also helps when ya sell 100s of items per day instead of 4 or 5 a week lol. Ive yet to have a single item returned to amazon that was an empty box, rocks, or totally wrong sku, and amazon say its my problem. They just pay me back instantly without me having to call and the buyers get dealt with. This is fba of course.

Re: scammers

Ive been here since 99. There have always been bugs. But nothing compares to the last year. Not even a contest. Take into account GTC forced problems. Shipping page problems. Managed payments forced problems and you have one massive cluster compared to past history.
