refund problem!

Ok so I had to refund a buyer before the item shipped because the item got damaged. I issued a refund 10/20/19 as you can see in the screenshot below

but now my ebay is saying I need to refund the buyer by 11/05/19 even though paypal says the refund to ebay was complete. What should I do?

What you show in the screenshot is you "initiated" the return..... and it's not complete yet.  I'm not sure what that means......that the $ had to be withdrawn from your bank?     I'm imagine the incompleteness is the reason Ebay sent the message to you........

I think it just takes awhile to show it's been completed . Nothing ever goes quickly  especially refunds . My husband purchased a cell phone from a e bay seller several weeks ago . However the packaged arrived torn open and empty . The post office had taken notice and placed it inside a clear bag with a '' Were sorry sticker '' . So he called e bay and what a mess  got started . They needed a police report . So we had to call the cops  but when the officer came out he told us they considered it petty theft [ 63 dollars ] and they didn't usually do an incident report on petty theft cases .  So e bay declined to provide a refund . The seller stopped responding to messages . So we called the police again . This time they provided a police report and we sent in the number to e bay . So now they approved the refund  but its been a series of long phone calls and three way calls between us , e bay and pay pal  and were still waiting on the refund . He was promised it in 48 hours ,, but nope . We were given the wrong  amount of time . Still waiting .  😞  Tulips

If you don't have the funds being refunded in your account that can slow things down. If they paid with a credit card that can also make things take longer than normal.

As for the shipping double check your awaiting shipment in your seller hub. If you are using the legacy shipping page it no longer reports items needing shipment properly.

Also just as a heads up your cancellation reason may leave a defect on your account and you may have to pay the Final Value Fees for the sale.

The only time a refund I issued sat in pending for several days is when I didn't have a balance in my PayPal account so the refund was sent as an e-check.

If PayPal is confirming that the refund cleared then you will need to contact eBay customer service to find out why their system is not recognizing that.

The refund would not be to Ebay but to your buyer.

As long as your buyer has been taken care of, just watch the Ebay side and make sure it resolves.  A friend of mine had a similar thing happen on a couple of cancellations she did.  So just keep an eye on it, hopefully it will resolve in the next day or two.  If it doesn't, then you may need to contact Ebay.

If your refund went as an e-check, Ebay will hold the return open about 5 days or so.  Even though you'll see the withdrawal in your bank account within 24 hours, Ebay/Paypal likes the "float" at your expense.  Once the e-check "clears", Ebay will close the return.

It isn't a return, it is a cancellation.  Still what you have said is accurate for either.
