I am alone or has anyone noticed that ebay new selling format is "very very time consumming ,and difficult to use" ,,,,I don't mind if they add video that's fine ,
But its was too long with too amny irrelevent options and a lot of unnessary drop down menus ,,,Way to much infrmation to fill out ,,,even the shipping options are a PAIN,,to use ,,I strongly suggest you keep the old format for all these reasons or at the very least allow sellers to use the old format ,,,,,,Unless you make the new format simple like the classic format of selling ,,You will lose a lot of sellers ,,,, Is there anyone out there that agrees with me ,,,

I don't know if everyone is being forced to use it yet but I am. It is awful!! It is much more time consuming for people using an actual computer. They no longer offer suggestions or auto fill item specifics from the title and then you have to click on multiple links and wait for them to pop up for each item specific. If they were trying make the listing process easier they utterly failed. I don't understand the logic behind the pop up boxes the form was much more efficient. I have to wonder if it is more efficient for mobile or app users. I personally think I'm going to have to find a third party listing tool. The bulk edit tool updates aren't as problematic for me and they may have actually improved it a bit.

Not sure if anyone remembers the last major update they did and accidently deleted a bunch of people's pictures...that was fun!

I still have listings where I get a message.....why do you only have 1 picture? lol

I remember that - I was still finding listings with only one photo weeks later - a number of them even sold.

@siamjane8 wrote:I tried it again last night to doe a simple revision and relist- Had to call customer support and it took us 20 minutes to figure out hour to switch to flat rate shipping. it was hidden under 3 layers of popup boxes- so stupid. A 20 year seller and a merchant support agent could barely figure out the most basic function of a listing tool. I dont know how a first time lister would even compete one listing without leaving the site. BTW- after figuring it out, the stupid app was broken and every time i changed it to flat rate with standard shipping option, it would just dump all info out of the form and have to start over.... not to worry the 2nd agent started a ticket. So ebay- 1.5 hours to relist and item that was requested from a buyer, and could not get it done. bad seller experience and bad buyer experience and lost sale. thanks for your help- all you have to do is give us access to the tool that works until you figure this out........
Under 'shipping' Domestic----->shipping cost type ------->flat or calculated.
"Domestic shipping" ------>drop down gives you all the USPS, UPS, etc. choices.
The package details wording is pretty dumb, though.
ETA: * I'm not sure how much CS knows about using the listing form so probably confused the issue.

My greatest complaint was the lack of shipping options. I could only add one shipping option, but depending on where a person lives there might be a lower shipping option for them. Make sure you tell them what is wrong. The shipping and drop down options without the auto fills were the top of my complaints. The pictures were faster, but not enough to make the change. It seems to be set for people listing from a mobile devise, but I only list from my computer. I have found that the final version might have changes added based on feedback. Using the older version until they force us to change.

Been selling on eBay for over 20 years and by far, this is the worst listing tool they have come up with. All drop down menus which you then have to search for or enter your own and HOPE it is accepted. PLUS way too many easy to miss 'REQUIRED' entries that aren't readily apparent upfront like the previous format which was the BEST version they have had.....

@d.amber You can add shipping options - under "Delivery" -- 'edit all options' - at the bottom of the panel "Add shipping service".

thanks for the diagram lol..... problem is that when you do that and then select standard shipping, it resets to nothing and you have to start over. probably just another programming oversight but still frustrating to have to search for what used to be one click. The overall design layout is just not compatible with a desktop- that is the problem.
I do feel bad for the design team is they are reading any of the feedback. I dont think they realized how many people prefer to list on a computer- but i dont even blame them- they just come in and do their job like anyone else and they were told to design within a set of parameters probably....... its someone else's fault that those parameters were not in sync with what the actual ebay customer's need or wants...... a long standing and systematic problem with this company...... although its funny how the timeline of the decline of ebay coincides with the policies and changes ignoring of sellers.... food for thought

That's odd, because I've added subsequent shipping methods with no problems.
They need to add 'first class' also.
I agree the design, even now, is a bit of a kluge, but you should have seen the beta - OMG, it was awful. Hopefully with barrages of feedback they'll fix some of the outstanding problems. I list on mobile all the time on other sites (as well as desktop) and it doesn't have to be this complicated - eBay has made listing too complicated to begin with.
04-28-2022 07:13 PM
I agree with you. it does not have to be complicated lol. every other platform has tool adapted to work best on whatever device the user chooses.....Aside from all the item specifics that do nothing for search (notice how the ebay search has gotten worse every year and sales are declining the more they add item specifics), the classic listing tool is the best lister that ive used...
I truly think the addition of promoted listings has severely hurt the search relevancy as well- just too much manipulation and not enough keyword matching. anyway none of that matters if we cant successfully list in a timely matter
Hopefully they are getting an onslaught of feedback now since it did not leave an impression for the first 18 months that we have been saying the same things. BTW- i did use the first version and man are you right!!! it was awful! thats when i first got really nervous that we were starting off so badly- not even in the ballpark of a usable tool on a desktop. at that moment you know that they have he wrong people for the job- it was 100% going in the wrong direction

What a time waster this new format is.
I sell lots of unique items that require lots of differing details. Having to wade
through this mess of an outline every time is just a frustrating experience.
Maybe it's an improvement for someone out there, but that someone surely isn't me.
It worked just fine before eBay decided it needed a wholesale makeover.

If I (and everyone else) is feeding the publicly traded company, my problem becomes their problem when I create fewer listings in a finite amount of time. Multiply that over the number of sellers (using appropriate coefficients for typical listing numbers) and the impact on quarterly earnings will probably not be trivial.
04-30-2022 03:55 PM
I agree- It would be interesting to know the drop in new listings from this. GUess it depends on how many people were in the first forced batch. Knowing ebay they will blame the nice weather and that people are spending less time on the internet in the springtime or something like that instead of realizing its the pushback from forcing us to use a tool that takes longer to list with.
05-06-2022 06:54 AM
It sure is not intuitive. I'm getting used to it, because that is all I can do, but I preferred the old one. I never have liked having modules that require opening new boxes and filling them out. I've still not figured out how to pick an item from the catalog. I sell used items and generally dislike the catalog, but selecting an item in that catalog seemed pretty easy with the previous tool. It looks too much like change for change's sake, rather than change to help us.
