Also I recommend you read and make sure to thoroughly understand the 3 following links if you have not already, at a minimum, before continuing on ebay:
ebay Money Back Guarantee
https://pages.ebay.com/ebay-money-back-guarantee/
Selling policies
https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/selling-policies/selling-policies?id=4214
Managed payments

Additionally, if you have spare time, hanging around these forums and just reading topics randomly (along with the "Buying" forums), you can learn A LOT of information from the experienced buyers and sellers here who volunteer their time to help out those in need.
Wish you the best of luck!

Make sure that you have chosen the correct country that you are located in. Sellers in the US will need a US checking account to register for Managed Payments.

"Oh, and start small, don't list something that you can't " afford to lose until you have learned the ins and outs of selling on eBay. "
Good advice from @rebell45, though "losing" the item may be less a concern than not getting the net payout you expected.
Among other issues, you will certainly find that eBay Help entries universally omit some essential detail that you will find frustrating after the fact.

I know it's a lot of information @fraz1961 but we're not trying to intimidate you.
Most of us here are pretty experienced and we just like to help anyone who comes for help be as informed as possible.
Selling on ebay is a lot more technical than they would have you believe. Best to be informed about everything before beginning.
The key thing is don't list some expensive item, I'd say anything over $50 honestly to start with, when you have very little feedback and are just beginning.

What would possibly make you think that the OP might be from another country? 😉
