getting paid

Customer service person says to me. Good News! while you have accepted an offer for an Item u r selling and waiting for buyer to pay, another buyer can acquire the item if the secondary buyer pays for it.  If that is true, how can a secondary buyer see it if its not in the active listings? I looked for it but nowhere to be found. So, I called customer service and was told no. The buyer has 4 days to pay. What? This sounds like a low rent deal to be sure. It is bad enough that buyers get 4 days to pay, which is a draconian dictum that ebay has stood by for years that makes no sense. I as a seller should be the only one to grant that. Where in the real world is this a practice that is taken away from the seller. How about lay a way or a deposit and hold? Anything like that is decided before the fact. Even worse it can be down onle when a offer is accepted! So, I accept an offer and then get squeegeed by having to wait. Does somebody in the conisentia at this outfit see the poor rationale for this? Please tell me I am not alone in thinking that is as misguided as it gets. How can a company of this size allow such a shortsighted decision to exist for so long. Look, I want my money, I need my money. Does ebay allow me to skate when I buy their services? What is wrong here?

Re: getting paid

My settings have BOTH of those boxes checked, buyers are supposedly required to have a payment method before they place a bid or make an offer, yet still I deal with waiting for days hoping to get paid and complete the sale.   Buyer sends an offer, I accept the offer, it sits in "pending" "awaiting payment", then crickets.  After four days, it "expires" and I have no sale.  I have no idea if the "buyer" got a non-payment strike or not.  Where in the real world can you tell a merchant you want to buy a product, they remove it from their shelf, and then wait for you to get around to paying or not?  I immediately pull the item off other sites as I'm trying to respect the accepted eBay buyer's offer, and then I wait for payment, only to lose the sale.  In this day and age of instant payments everywhere, this seems ridiculous to me.

Re: getting paid

you are correct. It is ridiculous. In my experience, these forums are too. The customer service function is no help to sellers and then you try the forums and its very rare you will find help. Usually youll get someone lacking in a soul. If somebody tells you to try facebook ebay? Same thing, in my experience. It gets proven in subtle things like how they trumpet how much the measures are helping the sellers. And they do this and that for seller protection. Its propaganda because they dont really give you the help you need but what they want to allow. Thats why they have to promote it. I come from companies that considered internal and external customer service and its not that hard to implement if there is a will to do the right thing. Ebays too far around the bend for that and immersed in their culture. Notice how they raised rates while thgey still had an excuse to do so before the resurrection of our economy? But its actually the best youll find so dont be too discouraged.  But, we need prophets to point out where things could improve, and thats me.
