After selling on eBay for 20 years, today I got my first negative feedback from a buyer who joined in 2020 and bought only 17 things! He has never bought a 78rpm shellac record before! He never contacted me first to ask for a refund etc. Just left negative feedback. Of course I suspect he was put up to this buy one of my competitors who sells the same item! What they said in the comments are stupid anyway, the record was only rated VG, and it may have an edge chip, which is not visible in the photos furthermore an edge chip doesn't mean the rest of the disc is useless! For some reason eBay cropped the photos, the listing was from 2020, and I would never take a photo with the record top and bottom cut off???? Of course eBay sided with the buyer, wouldn't remove the feedback! We sellers who take this job of selling on eBay seriously, it just makes you want to scream! How dare this jerk not contact me first, I always make good to my buyers! The eBay fees for 2023 was close to 20 thousand dollars, and this is the thanks I get! Not a happy person today! The suspected seller, when they buy from me never leaves feedback, ever! This person lives in the same city! I would bet anything it's dirty pool! Check out my feedback and see what you think? I looked at the buyers, buying habits not a 78rpm record insight! What a lying jerk, furthermore if's it over priced why did you buy it? One day eBay is going to loose all of their longtime sellers, for exactly this reason – side with us once in a while! It makes us all look good!

I would have asked for a revision from the buyer.
Considering it being an older type record they might have done the revision.
Maybe give a partial refund...sometimes it works.
And I wouldn't respond to a negative feedback for it is harder to try to do a revision with a buyer.
Considering how large your inventory is....the feedback left by the buyer will be ignored.
I wouldn't let one feedback like that bother me.

Sorry to hear that. It is amazing that this is your first and i really do not think anyone will not buy from you. Most experienced buyers understand and can spot novice record buyers and will look past this.
Either way it does seem unfair but don't let it keep you down.

You should have mentioned the chip in your description.

On a listing from 2020, I would not be surprised by a defect which was not present when listed.
But the negative was not the only recent FB for damage not described.
I hate shipping 78s. I hate storing 78s. You seem to actually be selling some at some pretty decent prices.
Perhaps it might be appropriate to count your blessings.

Your responses basically say to future potential buyers "If you're unhappy, I will get very defensive & block you". Not a good look

No! here's the thing, I would never, ever leave negative feedback for another seller without contacting them first! That's manners, which people no longer have! My sellers know me, and they know I am fair! I had to defend myself! I work hard at this! If I sold a bad item, I will take the return I always have!

If the record had a chip? The photo from 2020 has been cropped by eBay, not sure why they did this?
I take a full view of the item? So who know

Of course I do! (count my blessings) It's a lot of hard work a box of 40 78's weight 25 pounds plus!
They break easy – take a lot of packing supplies! I love records! Hate the feedback
system they need to dump it!

Maybe you're right! I just blew my top! Communicate first! Then if I'm the jerk, leave negative feedback! Grrrrrrrrrrrr!

In 19 years on Ebay, I have never had a picture self crop. Sorry but I have to call on that. I also will call the same on buyer. A chip in the lead in does not make a track unplayable. But you should definitely have mentioned in description.

I agree about the chip, but the photo was cropped! maybe because I was using a different camera then?
I don't?

Sorry but part of your response was not professional. They don't care about your other buyers knowing about a refund. Accusing the buyer of "horrible manners"? And then announcing that they ruined your feedback and they are blocked? You could have responded better- "I'm sorry you are not satisfied with the item. Please return for a refund".-no need to scold the buyer. I wouldn't buy from you.

Don't fret it move on I give up with trying to keep feedback spotless You get D Bags and stupid people all the time just had two this month also.Same instance as you low feedback buying an item then leaving neutral feedback because they were small when they are photographed with a coin to show size.Plus a Negative from a guy who never bought the item from us he left neg. for.I text him asked to remove he said sorry he would but never did gave me excuses that he was busy with company and would do it later but sill didn't.I give up..no one cares anyhow....Buyers and sellers know this is a mine field for selling.Scammers and bad buyers next to every rock or tuft go grass just waiting to blow your feedback up.

Not doubting it was cropped. But was it human error when posting the item that caused the problem? Also how don't you notice a chip when taking the picture or when getting ready to pack it up(I always reinspect) and not mention it. I guess a lesson in paying more attention. But we are all human. That being said, there is nothing you can do about it now.
