Sold an item and I have get charged for 13.25% of out of state tax and shipping costs? 13.25% of my sale price should be more than enough to feed the hungry beast! I'm done selling on Ebay! Forget all the nonsense to even get paid after the sale....

You will not get a direct answer, in fact the ones who think it is OK for Ebay to charge double your asking price will just tell you that you should have read the user agreement. I get what you are saying as Ebay is stealing from everyone and seem to think it is ok.

Examples please.  Other than low $$ value sales, what is Ebay charging "double your asking price" in fees?

The actual price it costs you for shipping is NOT part of the Ebay fees.  It is a cost of sale, but that is not the same as the Ebay fees.  The price you pay for the shipping may be determined by where you purchase your shipping.  If you are selling something for $29 and the costs to sell that item are $29 then clearly you are not pricing your products correctly.

If you weren't to use Ebay shipping labels, would you still feel the cost of shipping was a cost of doing business on Ebay?

The buyer's idea. The item is only worth $60 so no buyer is wiling to pay $60 plus shipping and tax. Unfortunately it is a large item. Ebay got 26.6%. Luckily I only paid $10 for it. I made $10.00 & Ebay made $7.74

What if you didn't buy your shipping from Ebay?  Would that make you see the numbers differently?  The cost of shipping is NOT part of the Ebay fees, it is a part of the costs of sales.  The two are not the same.

As far as what a buyer is willing to pay for something, that is all depending on the item.

If I did not buy my shipping from Ebay then I would have sold the item for $29 and Ebay would have only got $3.87 (12.9%)  instead of $7.74 (26.6%)

Only if you offered free shipping. eBay fees aren’t dependent on where you buy postage; they’re based on what the buyer pays you for shipping.

Bingo.  Which is exactly what we have been trying to explain to you.  The cost of shipping, whether you purchase it on Ebay or elsewhere is NOT a fee nor an amount Ebay keeps.  Therefore it is not part of the fees paid to Ebay.  The cost of shipping is paid to the shipper you selected.

The item they’re referring to was purchased for $29 and cost another $29 to ship. If they were arguing that the cost of shipping was an eBay fee, they’d be claiming the fees were over 60% on their $29 item.

Wait....why are you paying any sales tax. On all my sales that involve sales tax ebay adds it on as an additional cost to the buyer and they pay it. It does not affect my margins at all.

Here in the great state on Indiana eBay gets 1% of the taxes collected for collecting said taxes. Not sure how it works in other states but eBay is double dipping here.
