fees

Does anyone notice when they sell something and put the correct amount for shipping ....that we are in a whole taxed for the item sale & shipping price together...so now if you add up what's left and you gave a discount and still have to pay the price of shipping that is the rate at the post office that you posted .and ebay took their fees.....you lose money ....

Re: fees

True once they put that thing for Discount now the buyers watch your item thinking they're going to get a discount ...I had one person watch my item eight times they let it expire and they kept hitting watch ...then they let it expire and they keep hitting watch hoping that I would give it a lower price and a lower price ....but I didn't .....so yeah I hate that button

Re: fees

I am not a big seller on here ....I sell my mom's or my daughters or my personal items or things that they want to get rid of ....so it's not like it's something I have time to do 24 hours a day ..everyday... I just come on here sometimes and sometimes I don't...

Just how do you know that you "had one person watch my item eight times".? I see no ID's for those watching my listings.   Did they message you stating such?

I have GTC listings that have been running for a year or two that have pretty much always had "watchers". I have no idea who they are. Likely not the same ID's for 2 years, but some are probably other sellers, so may have been a few long run watchers.

Yeah that's crazy our sales tax here is 9%...so now I look at what I am buying and cost before I buy it......

The sales tax a buyer pays has NEVER been assessed based on where the seller is located.  It has ALWAYS been assessed based on the address the buyer is having the item shipped to.

And while some states do have high sales tax, most are not as high as yours.

I respect that.  We have lots and lots and lots of Casual sellers like yourself.  That still does not take away from the fact that sellers are suppose to know the rules.  You are required to follow all of them just like everyone else.

No you still would not have been refunded. Strange concept. So you think every package the USPS breaks Ebay pays for ? If something breaks you use your insurance that you purchase from USPS, they refund you.

Yes there is, you can click on that same arrow and drill down to Report Inappropriate at the bottom, and ask a moderator to remove your post or to lock it from further replies. This can be done at any time

Tax from shipping? I was taxed by have no clue why and for what and at what rate? Federal sales tax is 4% and I am in NY. so please help me figure what ebay sold to me during my buyer’s transaction?B4A9897D-7A71-4006-807B-434B65E6CC48.jpeg

The sales tax is determined by the buyer's address.   It is state sales tax plus any city or county sales taxes.  The buyer pays this tax as part of their payment, and eBay pulls that tax payment and holds it until they remit it to the appropriate taxing authorities.

Also, side note.  You get to pay FVF on the sales tax that you never see in your payout.   Pretty slick setup.

I think there may be a misunderstanding here.  There is nothing wrong with what @annwilso-53 did.  If I can satisfy my customer without having a claim opened, you betcha I'm going to do it.  For me it is the best way because I do not treat my customers differently with or without a claim.  My service is the same.

My account stays healthier too without those claims counting against me in the Service Metrics.

All you need to do to get your FVFs refunded by Ebay, except for the 30 cent per transaction fee is contact Ebay and ask for it because you fully refunded your buyer.  They will be able to see that and will easily refund your account.  This doesn't have to be a difficult process.

So you would prefer to see the sales tax in your payout?  Why?  It would be a whole lot of extra work to have to track all of that and submit the taxes you collected to the appropriate states.

Funny. That’s exactly what an eBay employee would say. 😜

Re: fees

It is confusing to see sales tax on the seller part. It is buyer’s part and if Ebay takes care of it then it should be shown in the details (on the seller part). I was confused thinking it was sales tax charge to me for service ebay sold me or something. I saw from other posters that I am not the only one confused.

Re: fees

OK -- not sure what impact you believe that information should have on the fees you pay as a seller.
