feedback manipulation

Buyer left negative feedback. I sent a message that sinmply read "There was no need to leave negative feedback. All you needed to do was contact me if you had an issue with your item." I then received a message reply from the buyer that read " If you give me a full refund i will revise my feedback". What should i do other than report this buyer?  How long does it take for Ebay to respond to my report and will they remove the nagative feedback for me without me calling customer service?

You need to call ebay and upload the message to them.  Tell them you feel it is feedback manipulation and you would like the negative removed.

Update: I sent this massage to the buyer as well.
"I can help you with that. If you open a return case with ebay, and return the item I will happily provide a full refund when the item is received. Or you can also provide a picture in your return request of the broken item, and that can help determine when a refund will be issued without returning the item. Thank you"

For starters, are you aware that ebay makes it dificult for a buyer to contact you?

They give them the option of making a big deal out of it and opening a case......

Maybe they just saw that as easier.

Then my question is what is their issue?

the big picture.

What is it that they're upset about.

Yes, you can play "gotcha" have the neg removed and tell them to pound sand, but is there some issue that should be respolved. Too many jusmp to "scammer" they want a partial! Call ebay. But is there a legitimate issue?

The item broke when she used it, and i am not the first person she has claimed an item broke upon receiving it. I looked at feedback she has left for others and has left the same feedback for at least 6 sellers as i can see.

I also have no problem with giving the refund without even returning the item. Its the fact that negative feedback was left and the promise to remove this after refund is the part i do not trust at this point.

You should have taken emerald's advice.

Good luck.

i don't see any negatives.

and keep the message...and simple say return for refund.  they are going for a refund from you..scaring you..

so return for refund... they follow the procedure...you do the same...

if they leave a negative..THEN you call and have the message there(to be see by tebay cs) and your responces that were by policy...

In this particular case, the buyer has already left the neg and committed feedback extortion by offering to revise it if the OP gave a full refund.  It's an old trick used by many scammers who are hoping the seller is more concerned with perfect feedback than keeping the money.  Leave a neg, get a panicked message from the seller, and try to score a refund and the item.

If the item broke why on earth would the buyer want to keep it?  And use a neg as a bargaining chip for a refund in exchange for a revision?  If I received something damaged, it isn't going to be "less" damaged with any kind of money back.  I would want to return it.

Should only take one phone call and a half decent rep to see what this is.

According to what the experts are saying in other threads, nobody reads feedback anymore, and you can’t post a negative for ANY reason.

Feedback has therefore become meaningless.

So, just ignore itnand carry on.

eBay does not make it difficult to contact a seller.

click on contact seller in the drop down window in the item purchase history, can not get much easier.

Clear violation of feedback policy. You can not use extortion to get something out of a buyer or a seller.

And the buyer's email address is also on the Paypal payment.

That may not be the address they use for eBay of course.

Yes, true that it is there with the PayPay payment, but I never contact a seller, or a buyer outside of eBay messaging.

Some have recently said that they have started to see the email addresses no longer being seen in PayPal.
