ebay templates

Hi All,

My company would like to sell our awesome newly patented NFC dog tag on ebay. I was working on the description and uploading images when I realized that certain layouts won't work the way I need. This lead to some investigation where I learned about ebay templates.

I would like to find someone that is knowledgeable in this area and willing to offer advice on how I can get our images up for everyone to see.

Please feel free to contact me here so I can learn more.

Thank you,

John

Re: ebay templates

@dogtag   I use templates exclusively.  What do you need help with?

Re: ebay templates

Thanks for replying! I can see you know what your doing on ebay!

In the description, I want to include more images and detail about my product. The format would include 1 row with 3 individual images with text below each image. I also have some other images that will take up the width of the description box.

I'm trying to figure out how to get this professionally done so it all looks good.

Re: ebay templates

OK, it sounds like you need a description template rather than the listing template itself (I use listing templates).  Putting together the description template would require a little HTML and photo hosting (make sure the photo host is secure) but you would have to write that yourself (eBay actually discourages complicated listing templates).  If you wanted to create a listing template that you could use over and over again, you would write the description HTML into the eBay template.

So for instance for three columns on one row it would start with something like this (close the carrots):

< div class="row" >
  < div class="column" >< /div >
  < div class="column" >< /div >
  < div class="column" >< /div >
 < /div >

You would embed the photo HTML into the columns as well as the text - if you created a listing template with this description template present, you'd just need to change the photos and text each time, the frame would be the same (i.e., item specifics).

Re: ebay templates

I got a few questions.

1) Is it possible to see what my listing will look like in 'real life' without having to go live? I realize there is a preview option but I want to see things on mobile and tablet as well. I want to ensure what I coded is responsive to all devices.

2) I have 2 rows and 4 columns. At the top of each column is an image. Then under is text. In the editor things look ok but under preview they are awful. What can I do to fix the problem?

Re: ebay templates

@dogtag

1. You can check your draft in whatever device you like in preview mode. But honestly, I don't know what eBay does to the HTML when the listing goes live - I had some poor results myself when I was using more complicated templates but that was a while ago.  I'd probably go live, and check it, and if I don't like it, take down the listing again.  You can also try several quick utilities online to check it over a range of devices - search on cross-testing on devices or responsive testing across devices.

2.  Looks like multi-column overflow (object is larger than the space allotted to it) and the column width is the problem.   The editor may correct for that.  You could also go live to see if it's just the preview, or just change your column widths.  This explains the problem more clearly than I can - my HTML is pretty rusty these days and I don't want to steer you wrong going from memory.

Re: ebay templates

As a buyer, I am not overly fond of listing templates in item descriptions other than basic text.

The listing page is already overcrowded with at least 5 rows of sponsored listings, two rows before you get to your description, and at least 3 rows after the description.

Your template would be sandwiched between all those ads.

Naturally, your choice to list as you see fit, just giving you the view from one buyer.

Thank you everyone for your input and support!

I'm ready to see how much people like my newly patented product. It's listed now at:

I would appreciate any criticism you may see with my listing. With your help it will make it better!

Thank you!

Re: ebay templates

You need to fix the shipping. You can't send this Media Mail. Otherwise looks good. This is an interesting product. Hope you do well with it. I've worked with many rescues and animal shelters over the years and it is always heartbreaking to have a dog go missing and spend hours looking for it.

Re: ebay templates

@readabouthorses Thanks for identifying the mail issue. I have corrected the problem.  Is it possible for me to use the more favorable rates I have with Shippo? ebay collects over $5 from the customer for shipping whereas my rate with shippo is under $4. If so,I assume I would need to cut & paste the shopper address info into Shippo because it can't be done directly from ebay?

Thank you for serving at the rescues! Many Americans don't realize that in our country with have 3 different micro chips and all are on 3 different radio frequencies. What we at Taganize are saying is why not use the standard tech already baked into smartphones and built something that the community can all use! This way lost dogs can be reunited with owners more quickly. Let's also remember that when a Finder takes a lost pet to the Vet or shelter they most likely will relinquish custody over the pet. How long the lost dog remains alive after that is anyone's guess.

Re: ebay templates

I'm not familiar with how Shippo works so can't help with that.

While the microchips are great it does have the problem of taking the pet where the chip can be scanned. Many people are hesitant to do that because it requires them to handle the pet. With your product it would just be a simple scan with their phone and the info would be ... maybe the dog just belongs to your new neighbor who you haven't met yet and would be a simple return without involving the animal control people.

Do you collect the dog's information when the buyer purchases this tag or does it come with instructions on how to do this? I'm asking because many times people get their pets chipped but neglect to keep it updated so even when the chip is scanned the info is outdated. Just curious on how difficult it is to enter and update with your product.

Re: ebay templates

Hi,

You asked a great question!

Once the user creates an account everything about the owner and the dog is simply entered into an online dog registration form. When saved Taganize creates an online profile of the dog.  You can see this in the image forth down in the description.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/334544110349

If you scan the QR code you will see a demo what it looks like.

Everything  can be updated anytime 24/7.

Upon activation instructions are sent to user account email as well.

Does this answer your question?

Re: ebay templates

Just to answer your question about shipping. Yes, you can use other shipping services like Shippo. They usually have some integration with eBay that can automatically download eBay orders. If Shippo doesn't you just need to copy/paste buyer's address when you generate shipping labels on Shippo.

Re: ebay templates

Your listing looks great !  I congratulate you!!!..........the one question that I would have is what about the website where the info is stored.    Is there/is there ever going to be a charge?  How long will the info be kept?

Re: ebay templates

Another great questions! When a customer pays $29.95 this is for the lifetime of the dog. The price includes the Taganize NFC dog tag and hosting (dog Profile) for the lifetime of the dog!

I also added more info within item specifics to address this question.
