Ah yes. The old 'going to Amazon' standby. Amazon, where fees are higher, the customer can get their money back even if you use delivery confirmation and you don't get your money for 2 weeks (or even longer).

Your funds will be released here on eBay 3 days after your tracking shows delivery. Sell 10 more items and be done with holds...

Re: eBay holds first payment

According to your FB page, you have received 28 FB as a seller.  Your FB as a buyer doesn't have anything to do with your selling status.

If Ebay has decided that they need to have your money held until you can prove delivery of the items, there is always a reason for this move by Ebay.  And it is NOT just because you pull some money out of your PP account.  You are absolutely right, it is your money and if it is available, you can remove it if you please.  Whomever said that to you mispoke for sure.

Now you could be having money held due to what Ebay deem too many cancellations for out of stock items, to many returns or some other reason.  You should review your dashboard carefully and if you see some issues, you should look at the details to figure out what is going on and what you need to do to improve them.

If you see something and you have questions, come on back and ask.

Remember, the grass is not always greener on the other side.  You may find that you can't even sell many of your items on Amazon.

Scary & I wonder what its going to be like when they have full control over sellers money in the new upcoming payment system? It will be a worry if they freeze funds for sellers under any conditions they see fit. If you made the sale and have the funds you should be able to withdraw the money straight away once shipping is confirmed.

When can I expect to get paid?

The most important thing you can do to help get paid faster is ship the same day your buyer pays and follow good shipping practices.

Based on your shipping method and the shipping information you provide, here's when your funds should be available

  • Three days after we confirm the order was delivered, if you pay for shipping and print labels on eBay.
  • Three days after we confirm the order was delivered, if you ship directly using USPS, UPS or FedEx and manually enter your tracking information to My eBay.
  • Seven days after your latest estimated delivery date, if you don't upload tracking information but you mark the item as shipped in My eBay.
  • 21 days after the buyer pays, if you don't provide tracking information, mark the item as shipped, or the estimated delivery date can't be calculated.

Keep in mind that it may take longer to get funds if your buyer reports a problem with the transaction.

What is considered a limited selling history?

Sellers are considered to have a limited selling history until three conditions are met:

  • It's been more than 90 days since your first successful sale
  • You have more than 25 sales transactions
  • You have more than $250 in total sales

If I don't have a limited selling history and my performance rating is Above Standard, could I still...

Yes, there may be other PayPal policies that impact the availability of funds if a higher than normal level of risk is associated with your account--for example a sudden spike in eBay Money Back Guarantee cases, PayPal disputes or claims, unusual selling activity, items with an exceptionally high selling price, or sales in a new category or a category such as tickets, travel, or gift certificates. Learn more.

So a scamming seller can ship rocks to a bunch of customers, and then take the money and run? LOL.

Re: eBay holds first payment

Hang in there.  You have been a selller for less than ninety days.  Your 90 day probationary period ends in about 2 weeks and right before your monthly seller evaulation so you should see some changes to your account at that time.

  1. Probably no more holds,
  2. Maybe a selling limit increase
  3. Above standard selling rating.

You will also now need to watch your seller dashboard - click here to learn more about this

You will now be a seller that will have to perform to the tougher eBay selling standards.  Keep an eye on your out of stock issues as that is an area eBay monitors.

Good Luck Selling!

Re: eBay holds first payment

They will hold your paymernts as often as they can. Even after 90 days and 100 sales. If you have a few returns or nit described they will start holding again.  best solution it switch between multiole selling account. Better yet build up huge fees and ghost the account by report the linked card lost and close the bank account. Feedback is meaningless now days. Buyers know they can get there money back at any time for any reason. And unless you are a Chinese junk seller or Corparte Powerseller, they are not showing your items under search to people outside your area during peak times anyway.

You betcha.  If Ebay deems you are putting buyers in harms way, they are going to step in to protect them while hopefully helping the seller get back on track.  When a seller is not behaving as they should on the site, it affects us all.  And unfortunately many of the rules Ebay has are in place for the FEW sellers that misbehave, not the majority.  But the majority suffer through these rules because of the FEW that misbehave.

Dropshippers are not bad sellers.  It can be done right, but the seller has to be willing to put in the work to make sure they are doing it correctly and that is not easy but can be done.

I'm guessing you've had a bad experience or two with a seller that dropships.  Sorry about that.
