So now eBay raised their final value fee to 12.9% (+.30!) for most categories. Okay, everything is going up, BUT charging their fee on the state sales tax they now tack on is a little much. I have nothing to do with that, and I don't appreciate eBay making more money from me by doing that. Is there a lawyer out there reading this that will start a class action suit against eBay? It's gotta be illegal. (or at least really greedy) WAKE UP EBAY.

Sorry, but the FVF on sales tax is not illegal. Ebay, like all other money processors, charges their fee on the total paid by the buyer.
As to greed, who is the greedier? Ebay or you who wants the fee eliminated?

Before you suggest a class action, read the User Agreement and pay special attention to the section entitled Legal Disputes.
Ebay has been charging a percentage on the full amount of the sale (which includes tax and shipping) since the beginning of time. It is not new.

There are at least a couple of postings a week about the FVF on the sales tax. It has been discussed to nauseam. It is what it is and is fully disclosed in their policy. I actually find it to be a small fee to pay for not having to collect, track and remit the sales tax to the states, counties, municipalities, etc. or to have to keep abreast of the constantly changing sales tax laws for all those entities. Sales tax in Illinois for example can run from 6-10% depending on WHERE you live in the state.
Not sure what your time is worth to you but take an estimate on how much effort you would expend on doing it yourself before you complain.

This topic comes up repeatedly, usually by inattentive sellers who have just now realized that ebay's FVF applies to the total price, including sales tax. Some say if ebay wants to assess a processing fee for the sales tax, ebay should separate it out and use an FVF of, say, 2.5%.
ebay could do something like that. It would be more work (easier to combine everything), but, I'm sure it could be done.
But understand something: ebay knows (even if many sellers don't seem to have figured this out) exactly what their effective take rate is when using the FVF on the combined total. ebay is not going to reduce that take rate. So, ebay will simply increase the FVF on the item price plus shipping, to make up for the lowered FVF on sales tax.
The seller will still be paying the same.
As I generally say: You can spend your time complaining about this stuff, or you can figure out how to make it work for your business (as many sellers have done).

Collecting; Reporting and Remitting Sales Tax 4 times a year to 45 states, keeping track of all the various 'counties' that have to be shown on each state return....
....Costs Money
How would you like to pay for that?

Thing one. It's not illegal.
Thing two. Get over it. Instead of whining about something you won't be able to change. Work through it. Raise your prices a little. Find a cheaper supplier. Or deal with making a smidgeon less than you were before Managed Payments.
Thing three. Everyone is greedy but you. Which means I'm sure you sell your items at a break even cost.
