My bill for August shows sales of approx. $650, and a charge of approx $79; that is definitely not 10%. It is, though, certainly possible I missed a fee increase. Please share.

Did you add any extras by accident?

All of your listings are BIN...If you have them automatically relist....111 x .35 = $38.85. Are you aware of the 35 cent fee, to let your BIN listings automatically relist?

eBay's monthly invoice is not just than 10% of your sales.
It is 10%* of your sales, plus ...
* And note that 10% is not always the final value percentage; some categories and store subscriptions have a different percentage. For example I think media is 12% and guitars and basses is 4%.
All that aside ....
Your invoice detail will tell you every single thing eBay charged you for, with the amount, the type of charge, and the item it relates to.
If you go through your invoice and see any changes you think are out of line, please come back with details and someone here can probably explain it to you.

It depends on what you sell. Not all category's have the same fees.
I think they did raise the fees on the DVD's with the Spring Seller Update.
According to the chart DVD's Are 12% now.

There’s also a 4% additional Fvf for sellers who fall below standard.

I only use the 50 free listings and any additional that are added during the month. I end a listing that is set to expire, unless I have free available.

I think that was bumped to 5%

Thanks to all for replying. I followed the provided link and now understand I did indeed miss the fee increase for DVD's. Going forward, this should only affect the 20% of my stock I am selling at cost and can move in my store at a better price. As all are aware, there are occasions in business when pennies count and this is such a time.

You are welcome, glad I could help.

That would make it $91 in fees.

Can it change in the middle of a billing period?

Just curious... other than because they can, does anyone know why ebay charges higher fees for books, DVD's, and musical instruments?
Is it just simply because there is a high volume of such sales and they want all they can get? I mean, it doesn't cost ebay any additional expenditures for such listings does it?

Perhaps ebay is looking forward to when they have more sellers in managed payments and they are responsible for the fees to the CC companies for chargebacks and such.

eBay raised to 12% to keep up with the market- yet still remain on the lower side for a venue with such high traffic. Amazon's fee is 15% for books/movies/music.
Bottom line- eBay was able to raise it yet still not lose all the sellers in those categories to competitive venues.
