eBay Search

When can we expect a fix? I don't have to google to find it, just makes it impossible to be Competitive if you don't have real time true results? Hiding most of listings on the site just to show promo items, makes it hard to price your items as a buyer and a seller, I now rely on other sites to price my items on eBay, just fix it! and don't confuse and distract buyers with your silly ads.

Re: eBay Search

I price my items at their true value, it works for me.  For instance, I don't care that some **bleep**er sold product x for y amount of dollars on Ebay....I primarily use auction house results.

Come on man!  I'm with you, I don't sit around and think about being stifled, because I couldn't operate in such an environment.  But, I know you're not being serious when you ask how that would benefit Ebay financially.  I have to state it again, come on man!!!

If you're not joking: I'll provide yoy the obvious answer to your question, promoted listings

Re: eBay Search

I'm stating this with no offense meant to you or anyone else...just an observation.

You do know the community as a whole knows you're 100% biased towards Ebay.  You're simply not self aware.  Would you ever state the truth?  Could you ever state truth?

How can we ever believe you?

Re: eBay Search

Why would I do a google search for something i'm searching for on ebay?

Doing a ebay search for "steelers matchbook",

I come back with 124 results.

The 23rd of which is YOUR listing for a lot of 6.

It did not come across that way and you made an assumption that is quite unlikely to be true.

And again, you are trying to insult me now.  It appears to be a pattern as you have been doing similar thins with other posters.  We all have points of view.  Because I don't find that Ebay is at fault all the time does not mean what you have said here.   It means I'm willing to accept my own mistakes or missteps when others find that difficult if not impossible.

Ebay IMHO makes mistakes or does things I don't like.  When asked I give my honest opinion.  Because whatever I say doesn't meet with your approval doesn't concern me in the least.

Re: eBay Search

Why would I do a google search for something i'm searching for on ebay?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

For someone that searches google, then the link shows them the 4 items, buyers will think there are 4 on ebay and may go somewhere else, eBay needs to show items that match the keywords, and not select 4 out of 140.

"ebay search is broke"

You're blaming ebay  for google search results when searching for  a ebay item?

Oh boy.

Re: eBay Search

Hiding most of listings on the site just to show promo items,

Sellers who use the PL option are paying eBay to be promoted.

Whether or not it works is a different question.

The Canadian seller who has been documenting his results has not yet completed his experiment.

You will be annoyed to learn that his very preliminary results show PL works better, at a lower cost, than customer discounts.

Are you kidding me? this is an ebay link where they claim thousands of items but show you 4, apparently you don't know how search works.

Re: eBay Search

Which Search is being used should come into it.

If using Best Match, which is the default and most likely, we get one set of results.

Use Lowest Price, second most likely, another set in a  different order.

Or Ending Soonest

Or Newly Listed

Or Highest Price plus Shipping, my personal preference because it lowers all the junk listings to the bottom, and I can find my price point more quickly.

I've also concluded that each time we do a Search for a particular set of keywords, the algorithm is designed to look for items that were not in the previous Searches.

They were farther away, or had higher Shipping, or had just indexed, or the seller was not TRS.

Or there are 100,000 items listed with those keywords and the Searcher isn't likely to look beyond the first five pages (125 possibles), so the algorithm rearranges them.

Then apparently I don't know how search works.

If i'm looking for a "steelers matchbook" on ebay, I do a search for "steelers matchbook" on ebay.

Silly me.

Re: eBay Search

Again, I am not going to argue with you, not everyone searches eBay, eBay got the attention of the buyer on Google, and the link brought them to eBay. All eBay has to do is display all items that match the key words that are on top of the eBay search, and not just show 4 items under "schedules", because there are 18 under schedules and my keywords didn't include "Schedules".

Re: eBay Search

I wanted to post 1982 Dukes of Hazzard Puffy stickers.  I found 1 in a sold search.  Then I did a current search & found no listings.  Since I did not see anything & do not trust eBay, I decided to do a search on Google to see if anything is out there & figure out a good listing price.  I did not find much on Google except it showed me 1 current on eBay.  Google was the only way for me to discover someone else had a similar item posted on eBay.  This is why people do a Google search!

Well then they should get it working as it should instead of their intention.  You know what road is paved with good intentions?  LOL
