eBay International Shipping Program

Hello,

Friday my sales began to tank - after looking more into it, because I began to receive numerous emails from international buyers asking for quotes I found out the following:

- I was migrated to eBay international shipping

- I had to turn off any other international shipping option

the result: 95% of my listings no longer have the international shipping option & Customers new & past are messaging me that I no longer ship to them.

I’ve submitted 2 tickets and IT has no idea what’s going on.

As a workaround I opted out of the program - global shipping is no longer available so my only option is eBay Standard International which is a disaster and shouldn’t be used and the usps and ups options. I then opted back in, and the same items showing that they ship International under the usps and ups int’l shipping now again don’t show the option to ship internationally under this new program.

Any visibility on this ?

I am waiting for a reply from IT about the  following situations with the new Ebay International shipping:

-- I was told that I could see the total shipping charges by clicking on the shipping Details link in the listing, choosing 'Select' in the presented Shipping and Handling Information, and then selecting the country for the international shipment. When I choose Select, nothing happens (i.e. I can't select a country).

-- In the course of discussing the above problem with Customer Support, the agent said he checked on Ebay's Canada website and saw that none of my active listings were available for shipment to Canada (i.e. my listings weren't visible on the Ebay Canada site).

So, after being told that my account was configured correctly for the new Ebay International Shipping, it can't be used! Should be an interesting response from IT.

Have you confirmed if it is a pkg size issue? With GSP and now EIS I believe their are limitations for weight and length. We have the same issues with anything oversized in |Canada with Canadapost. Makes shipping anything similar very expensive. (From  past experience GSP wouldn't send posters/maps to Canada)

Re: eBay International Shipping Program

Thank you.

Quite welcome. As an FYI these are the three clubs that are showing domestic shipping only at the moment

Following are the dim and weight limits under EIS. I would think about any golf club would fall under the limits.

  • Packages should not exceed:
    • 44 lbs. billable weight for every country except Canada (maximum billable weight for Canada is 66 lbs.)
    • 48 inches in length, 118 inches in length + girth (Girth = 2 x width + 2 x height)

Re: eBay International Shipping Program

The package weighs 11 pounds; its size is 36x14x14 inches. When I access the listing as a buyer I am told that the seller has not provide instructions for shipping to the United Kingdom. There is no explanation as to why, or why United Kingdom is referenced. There's just an instruction to contact the seller.

From a quick google search i confirmed the following.

The average driver shaft length on Tour is roughly 44.75 inches, give or take a half-inch in either direction depending on preference.

Depends if sellers are modifying the box before shipping and adding additional packing material for safety. Standard box would come in 48" length. With head included box would most likely be 4" x 4"

The US Postal Service will give you sturdy Priority Mail packing tubes for mailing golf clubs at no charge. However, you might need to use your own packaging because the tube is just under 38 inches long, and golf clubs can be up to 48 inches in length.Feb 24, 2023

See USPS comparisons 48 x 48 x 4" (approx 3 lbs) Sample rates to Canada R2X 1R2

Priority Mail Express International®

Max. length 59", max. length plus girth 108" - 73.30 Retail - 3 - 5 business days to many major markets

Priority Mail International®

Max. length 79", max. length plus girth 108" - 52.20 Retail 6 - 10 business days to many major markets

So seems the rate calculation and transit time are substantially different with EIS compared to USPS. Canadian buyers are having items arrive in 2.5 to 3.5 weeks and next to impossible to find who will handle the end of line delivery. (Nope. It does not always get handed off to Canadapost)

Which item? Based on the size you should be under the limit of 118". If my calculations are correct you would be at 100.

One of the idiotic things that eBay, and/or the EIS contractor, did during the transition and unilateral changes to the sellers listings was to insert messages to the buyers from countries that were not specifically designate under the EIS program. As an example on one of your listings, which is currently showing only domestic shipment. Have you tried to adjust the listing?

Re: eBay International Shipping Program

I have no idea why two of my listings are "fine" and three are only shipping domestically. I did nothing but accept the automatic opt-in of the new international shipping facility. All five of the listings include International Shipping in the list of shipping options (along with U.S. and Local). If there are reasons for the domestic only restrictions, why are these reasons not stated to me as the seller? As mentioned by other sellers, the rollout of this new facility appears to be both premature and botched.

Re: eBay International Shipping Program

All of the listings are for golf clubs. All but one are for a single club with a 2-pound package weight; they are shipped in a box that is either 42 or 48 inches long and 4 inches wide and high.  The other one is a set of clubs; that package is 48x4x4 and weighs 9 pounds. If size is a problems, why am I not informed of that when I prepare the listing?

Agree that the bot transition of some of the listings was "botched". What happens if you try selling similar on one of the clubs that is currently not in EIS and ending the current active one? If you want to give that a shot and let me know which one you redid I can check it for you.

If that does not work then this would be a question for the IT area of eBay or the EIS subcontractor but would suggest going through the facebook connection general customer support is useless and they will tell you what you want to hear to get you off the phone. If you are waiting on a call back from them don't hold your breath.

For my current five listing, the maximum weight is 9 pounds and the largest package size is 48x4x4 inches.

Re: eBay International Shipping Program

I have ended the listing of the 36x14x14 item. As for the Tour Edge driver, how do I "adjust the listing?" FYI, all 5 of the listings existed when the EIS program started and none of them ever had international shipping.

Go to your unsold/ended listings and use the drop down and select sell similar and try relisting it and I will see if it picks up the international shipping. It may just be one of the listings you had up that the bots missed in the transition/revision process.

Re: eBay International Shipping Program

Why do I have to change the country only from "a buyer's perspective?" Why not as a seller as well? This is a dumb requirement.

Re: eBay International Shipping Program

Enough of this crap. International shipping is not that important to me, and it's certainly not worth the hassle and wasted time it has been with a poor EIS design and a worse implementation. I am going to turn EIS off. I'll

Probably have to re-list the few items I have left, but I'll be spared the hassle on future items.

That is an option. I won't argue the fact that the transition has been fraught with issues. I stood on the sidelines for quite a while waiting to see how the program was going to run with regards to the seller protections they were proclaiming. Those seem to be going well so I jumped back into the international market a couple of weeks ago. It now represents over 50% of the eBay transactions and has been increasing year by year.
