Hi all,
Has anyone had difficulty with the Global Shipping program? I have never had success with any sales purchased by a non-US buyer. In the last week, I've had 2 buyers win their auctions, the items were off auction for 5 days waiting for them to pay, and at the end eBay cancelled the sale for non-payment. It seems to me that the Global Shipping idea isn't working ...

Hello,
I don't think that is a Global shipping problem. It's an international eBay buyer issue. Nonpayment.
I sell and ship internationally too. When I have an international buyer, I allow 72 hours for payment. After the sale, I send a clear invoice detailing the terms and conditions. If no payment, I send another invoice in 24 hours stating the sale will be cancelled for non-payment within 72 hours. After 72 hours I cancel the sale and relist the item.

Have always been under the impression that sending multiple invoices resets the amount of time the buyer has to pay.
So you are saying that's not true?

I don't think that is true. I haven't read or heard about that. I only send 2 invoices. I don't run into too many buyers that don't pay. Communication is the key. If the buyer doesn't respond with eith the payment or am acknowledgement, the sale gets cancel.

Two non-paying bidders has nothing to do with the Global Shipping Program (now called EIS Ebay International Shipping).

It's not the shipping as such.
Auctions get many many more Unpaids than Fixed Price listings.
And when an overseas customer is bidding he may not see the cost of shipping to him -- it's there I just checked for Canada and for Botswana-- but of course Buyers Don't Read.
Your Unicorn Barbie would cost a Canadian buyer $72 in shipping. A Botswanan pays $152.
You may want to go back to your Sell Your Item forms and set up an Auction template to Block any countries except Western Europe, UK , Japan, and Australia. And Canada of course.
Then actually look at the cost of shipping to those countries to understand the buyer's shock at the final price.

You don't have to invoice any customer if you have a shipping price given for the transaction. Invoicing does reset the payment time.
And you can, if you have not already done so, set your Seller Preferences to Cancel as Unpaid after 96 hours have passed.

I send another invoice in 24 hours stating the sale will be cancelled for non-payment within 72 hours. After 72 hours I cancel the sale and relist the item.
EBay will do that for you automatically.
Including the warnings.
Less work.
And no concerns about extended time for payment or about accidentally getting Defect.
