Did you mean:

eBaitandswitch

When is the name eBay going to change to eBaitandswitch. Iam fed up with these listings of multiple items that you have to choose from a list. The title is always about the most exspensive item, but the price is for the cheapest **bleep** that is not even mentioned in the title. It's just the old bait and switch routine and eBay, or should I say eBaitandswitch, lets it go on. I'm tired of wading through these **bleep** listing to find what I'm really looking for. Ebay needs to become more consumer freindly. PLEASE GET RID OF THESE MULTY LISTINGS!!!

How many more of these threads do you need to see before you END Multi-variations in the current form and revamp the system to prohibit this kind of abuse?

OK kids, time to get the Dodge loaded up again. I hear 'Poppy's By the Tree' calling. This trip might be a long one too.

Re: eBaitandswitch

I too have found these to be not only annoying but time-wasting too!

I go in to search through "Skirts" for "corduroy" and sort the response by lowest price.
The first page is loaded with enticing listings but each one I open has multiple colors for the skirts  at $10 to $20 - BUT - one listing for "bra" or "headband" for 99 cents.

That's pretty much of a stretch as a "related" item.

I agree, it's a real time waster and a PAIN.

FIX IT, eBay!

Re: eBaitandswitch

Most of the sellers who do this are based in China.  They will list a nice pair of leather gloves for a ridiculously low price but when you go to make a choice on the listing, the leather gloves are priced 10X higher and the low price item is disposable plastic gloves.

Worse, these deceptive sellers are very fond of using Promoted Listings to push their scheme.

This is abominable and it gives eBay a black eye but reporting it has been fruitless, and it is just getting worse.

Re: eBaitandswitch

I agree that this is an annoying and dishonest tactic ... but I'm not eager for eBay to "fix" it.

If eBay should make a change, my guess is that it will be to have a single price for all items in a multi-listing.  I would hate this because some sizes and colors don't sell as well and need a lower price in a multi-listing to move them ... or they have a higher weight and the price needs to be compensated to adjust for the higher shipping charges.

Re: eBaitandswitch

I agree get rid of them all! All this garbage!! Also LOOK real close because if anyone buys that chinese junk, check the size in mm real close. Everything is Small, and the auction leads one to believe the item is much larger. Read the small print. And keep in mind, that's if you even receive the item. Entire site is becoming a pathetic joke. Only people who sell anything GOOD. IS THE SMALL US SELLERS! ebay ought to wake up to that! thats my 2 sense worth.

Re: eBaitandswitch

If they need help, I can probably spare a half hour to write the code to reject anything outside a range of +/- 10%.

That would include a 15 minute coffee break .................

@orangehound

If that is the case then you need to list several items that DO have the same weights, the same colors etc. I agree that this tactic Ebay is allowing is completely misleading and should not be allowed. ALL items in a multi-variation listing should be the same price. I have learned to skip through all of those lisitngs and don't even bother looking anymore.

Re: eBaitandswitch

those listings drive me crazy when im shopping for something! its really discouraging to a buyer.i get so angry when i click on listing after listing and each one is one of those stupid multi listings and then its only a low price for some other product i dont want and not the actual price of the product i do want!

@coolections

I'm simply saying that a solution having everything the same price is probably the easiest thing to implement from a software standpoint, but it would be a poor decision.

For example, if a buyer is interested in something like bubble wrap, do we really want them to search through 20 different listings from a seller that has 75, 150, 300, 350, 450, 600, 700, 900, 1200, and 1400 foot lengths in 12 and 24 inch widths?   No seller would list these at the same proce, and having 20 different listings is a bad shopping experience for the buyer.
