dropping store level?

I did some research and determined that out of my single book FP listings (ie not auctions and lots) I am selling about 1% a week which is ridiculous compared to the time spent listing and relisting those books.

I am thinking of dropping my Premium store to the new starter level of 100 listings.

On the day I do that, what happens to my 600+ listings? Do most of them go POOF or is it a matter of just not relisting most of them when they expire? [these are not GTC listings]

Your store listings will run to completion.

Re: dropping store level?

They won't go poof, but if they are GTC, you want to end them before they are relisted.......or you will be charged.  If they are 30 day, just don't relist them when they expire.  The listing that are active are treated under the premium store rules until they finish their cycle....i.e. if one sells, you will be charged at the store FVF.............

If you want to work at it......you can probably figure out the optimum time to change stores.....right after alot of your listings have relisted.......

PS:  It looks like you may be subject to the same early termination fee as if you canceled the store subscription entirely.  Check into that before any decision.

Yup.  From the Stores TOS:

If you cancel or downgrade your yearly subscription or change from a yearly to a monthly subscription before the last calendar month of your yearly subscription, you’re charged an early termination fee

Re: dropping store level?

Yes, I know about the fee. Unfortunately I re-upped May 1st. I guess I should sit down and figure out which costs more, paying for a Premium store until next May or dropping my store level and paying the ending fee now.  One of the costs I currently eat now is the time I spend on listings and relisting 600 books that do not sell. I could find a better use for my time.

The listing will go to your unsold listings page  just like they do now.

I would try to use the promotion manager since you have a store and want to move more books than you are currently.  There are several ways to work this tool.  I am not sure what would be best for books?  Maybe 20% off on three books or more?  20% or more is the key discount for this tool to be successful.

Re: dropping store level?

OK I did the math and it would cost me far more to keep my Premium store until May 1st than to downgrade to the starter store, even factoring in the fee for downgrading.

I've already used over 100 "free" fixed price listings from my Premium store. If I switched to the starter would I be unable to list any more FP listings the rest of the month of August? That actually might not be a big problem because my new business plan is to severely curtain single-book listings and focus on book lots at auction (which will cost me 30 cents instead of 15 cents at the smaller store level).

Re: dropping store level?

Store subscriptions are paid-up a month in advance, so cancellations and downgrades take effect on the first day of the next calendar month. Regardless of when you cancel, you already have paid for the Premium store through August and the Starter store subscription will begin on September 1.

You also have to be very careful as Ebay only keeps the unsold for 90 days and a very good chance you can lose a lot of your listings.

You may have to use Seller Hub to schedule and the make sure they don't accidentally list.

You could also import them into Turbo Lister  so you won't lose them.

OK so if I go in and change my level now I can use up my 1000 "free" listings but starting Sept 1 will have to take care that I only list or relist 100 in the month in order to not exceed the new allotment?

Thanks makes some sense.

This also gives me a few more weeks to think about it.

Thank you.

Re: dropping store level?

Yes, you can make your choice right through August 31 it doesn't matter. But given how glitchy eBay has been lately, I wouldn't wait until the last minute to do anything time-sensitive!

Re: dropping store level?

Another good point. I guess I'll mentally circle the 27th or 28th to decide whether to make the big change.

The real challenge for me is putting a dollar sign on the expense in listing and relisting/repricing FP books that may never sell. I can't predict which. I sell enough that jettisoning the single-title FP books will hurt my bottom line. I don't know if I will offset that loss by freeing up time to do something else like list more books on Amazon.  : - /
