I see that the return address field printed on the shipping label is different between UPS and USPS and possibly other shippers.
But let's just look at the UPS label. It prints out my "real name" in addition to my store/ebay username. It also prints out my phone number in the return address field.
Why? 99.9% of business communication does not put telephone numbers on the shipping label in the return field.
I asked ebay how to do any customization of the return address field and they said there was none.
Yes, you can navigate to "https://accountsettings.ebay.com/uas/addresses" and change those addresses, but you must enter a phone number. There is no way to omit it.
Is there any undocumented way of changing the address field printed on the shipping label.

Yikes I didn't know that. Just one more reason to stick with USPS for all shipments. The last thing I need is for buyers to CALL me instead of writing.

I think UPS requires the phone number unless their policy has changed. That's why it's on the UPS label but not on your USPS labels.

There's no reason to put it on the label. It can be part of the UPS database accessed by the tracking number.

If you were shipping with your own UPS account they would already have your number in UPS system if they needed it.
If you have concerns about the phone number being there you can use something like a google voice number for your ebay business.
Have a nice summer.
