How hard and costly is it to close a store?

I don't know that it is hard, but there may be a monetary penalty if you signed up for a year, and I understand it can be quite expensive.

Early termination fee

• If you cancel or downgrade your yearly subscription or change from a yearly to a monthly subscription before the last calendar month of your yearly subscription, you’re charged an early termination fee; if you make such changes during the last month of your subscription you’re not charged an early termination fee.
• There’s no early termination fee for canceling a monthly subscription.

That depends on how you signed up for one and when.  An annual store (usually picked to save money) may cost you to close.

A more expensive month to month store is very simple to close.

You might also consider if you want to downgrade your store, rather than close it.  Your call.

Go to My Account, My Subscriptions, Change Subscription. Hit cancel subscription. It will tell you how much it will cost. It will not cancel unless you accept cancellation.

Just to be clear, closing your Store does not close your account.

Even if you have decided to leave eBay, your account will be held open for a few months to allow any financial (mostly) transactions to be completed.

That would include your various fees due to eBay as well as possible Disputes and Claims from buyers.

I just closed one. It was relatively easy and painless. I don't do the annual subscription - and I personally don't recommend it for just that reason. Situations change and you could find yourself financially obligated to pay the remaining term of your 12 month contract. If your in one, it is my understanding you still have to pay the balance whether selling or not.
