I'm trying to remove an old email address; when I put in my current email address I get a message saying that it is already used. It is, BY ME!! I won't be able to answer responses to the defunct email address, and keep going in circles with Ebay help.

Silly thought... are you deleting and then adding? Have you tried adding the new first and then deleting the old?

When eBay says an email address is "already in use", that means it is already associated with another eBay account. Possibly you have another eBay account you inadvertently created by signing in using a social media account linked to the email address.

That means you will need a different email address for this eBay account.
