I'm new to eBay and I don't know how to stop my item from getting automatically resisted. I'd like to stop the next realist because I've bought some items to add to my listing to increase it's value.

It sounds like you should END the listing then do a SELL SIMILAR to create a new listing with the added details.

Are you still in New Seller restriction mode?
If so, if you close (or sell) one of your allowed items, you will not be able to list another until the 30 days are up.
You might be able to change it though.
Make sure your new item fits the same category as the one you want to close.
Don't close it, just go toRevise Your Listing, at the top left of the listing.
Then start changing stuff- title, pictures, description, Item Specifics, price, Terms of Sale.
Note that the original listing is now gone. So if you think you will relist that item in future, save at least the pictures and the description in a desktop file.

^^^ This. Nobody can guarantee you that your listing won't automatically relist. You can guarantee it if you END it.

Do you know your listings are set to pick up only? Where is your shipping policy it's not displayed in list view? I would not over use the word rare to much either. You should have a return policy or you'll get stung by a buyer.
