automated feedback

Past week noticed feedback count going up but every time I'd look wasn't seeing any new feedback to go with the count, there would be 1 new from buyer but count went up by 3... until this morn when I noticed the small "automated feedback" on the right of feedback page says "8" and so I checked the box "show automated feedback" and seen where these left.

Not a bad thing, buyers actually leaving feedback is nicer, but so many don't leave it at all it's nice to see "something" for all the thousands orders filled and feedback left for buyers.

Re: automated feedback

I saw this as well and agree it is nice.

Interestingly, it seemed I also received more actual feedback.

Re: automated feedback

Still on the fence as feel potentially buyers may not bother as it's being done for them? I like the back and forth connection.

Re: automated feedback

On the whole, I think this is a useless sop to sellers who need validation, and will not provide any tangible benefit to the sales of most sellers.

Since scrapping the FB system is off the table, Ebay decided to try to do something.

They have no idea it's being done for them.  Maybe a year from now a few of them will know from word-of-mouth on social media or something.

We've already seen sellers reporting their % positive rising and it will only compound with each added positive.  You don't think that will make a difference in their sales?

Should help those drop ship sellers that sell a hundred items a day and have 96.4% feedback because they are sloppy at best.
THAT, in turn, will have the opposite effect on sellers with 99.9% that was earned because they're good.

that's a valid point didn't think about, didn't think too much on the subject past "oh, they doing auto feedback now?"

that was the idea to feedback to begin with, like to believe it still is though idk, still have to fight just for listings to be seen.

Re: automated feedback

maybe. But as far as the scrapping goes, either have it or don't but why has feedback become so complicated? Another seller I know pointed out to me that ebay has 7 Help pages devoted to feedback, honestly, never looked, but that does seem like overkill.

How about a seller who is also good but has a 93 or 95 or whatever, because they had one or two bad buyers who left unjust negative feedback and the vast majority of their other buyers didn't leave any feedback at all?  That's the seller I'm rooting for.  Anyone over 99% doesn't have much to worry about anyway.

They will when everybody has 99%
As for the one or two undeserved negatives?  Everybody with negatives has those...everybody

Re: automated feedback

Even if it would reach a point where everyone will have at least 99% (which it won't) buyers would still be able to go and read the comments of negatives to see what they were about, including angry comments that the seller is obviously dropshipping from retail stores or Amazon.

Your seller insights are making you too separated from the buyer experience.

Also you're not forced to sell the kind of items (as in new items) for which you have to compete with dropshippers.  eBay's identity has always been about used items, and although it has lost that unique identity (much like Etsy that used to be only handmade items, or heck even Amazon was originally just books) .... your item categories are still up to you.  If you want to compete with other new item sellers, some of them being dropshippers is just a reality.

Re: automated feedback

All ebay transactions are now entitled to & will  receive positive feedback absent a buyer indicating otherwise.

Makes positive transaction feedback unimportant . The negs & neutrals posted for a seller are what matters
