i got this letter from ebay.  i don't understand what part of my ads have active content .  can someone look at some of my ads and give me a simple explanation or example.

Dear tommy94005

We're writing to let you know that as of March 14, 2017, at least 45 of your listings on the eBay.com sites contain active content.   Active content (e.g. JavaScript, Plug-ins or Flash, iFrame and Form actions) will no longer display in your eBay listings starting in June 2017.

While your listings will still remain active, certain text, images, and other elements may not display as intended once active content is disabled. See the table below for specific examples from your listings.

Removing active content from your listings will give you the following benefits:

  • Improved performance on mobile devices
  • Faster load times
  • A more secure marketplace

Here's a closer look at your listings that contain active content: eBay.com

I scanned your 492 listings and it looks like they all probably have an Inkfrog showcase script (but I'm not seeing any showcase appear). If you want to stop those from automatically inserting into your listings, then you'll need to cancel or revoke the token in your account settings. Because the codes are probably all identical, you might be able to identify the code using the Sandbox tool and then paste that into eBay's bulk edit and replace tool to revise your listings in batches of 200. Scroll down to the instructions on this thread of tutorials.

Does that surprise you? You said you fixed them all, so it appears you did. Smiley Happy

Spoke to EBay their decision is baseless and for our high end gemstone sales EBay just lost all of them . After they show a major loss in millions of dollars they will either change back to where sellers can use video in listings or loose hundreads of millions of dollars .  They believe cell phone buyers out number all other buyers and don't want people causing accidents while driving which is already illegal . We're moving our highend sales to other formats which does not include EBay . Wonder how many directors came up with this ideal which will result in losses in the millions of dollars . Things like this decision can and do destroy company's

I found this link very helpful in finding active content in my listings. I was able to Scan and examine all files highlided in yellow that contain the active content.  To begin I entered my store name and location

I don't use active content but I too had a bunch of listings with it. Turns out EBays link to Turbo Lister.... that THEY put there was causing my problem. Had to fix over 100 listings to remove their links. Poor programming at its finest.

That makes 2 of us. I took 4 days to remove, what they encouraged us to install 15 years ago, & I've just about had it.Ebay is shooting themselves in the foot with all of this! I was doing great - now sales are the worst in 18 years! LEAVE WELL ENOUGH ALONE!!! Plus they cut our bonus discount fron 20 to 10 per cent. Nothing in return but nonsense. I'm close to telling them to stick their regular fees - their s&h fees (and telling sellers to add s&h to each item to save a few cents & ripping off their customers). THEIR GREED IS NOT GOOD. It's called stock holders equity
