Working Well - Auto Feedback and Packing Slip Message

For those of you who have not done this yet............. Set up your auto feedback and include a pleasant message on your packing slips stating the Buyer will receive positive feedback automatically when they leave positive feedback for the Seller.

For years I've been a manual feedback seller.  When a Customer left me feedback, I gave them feedback. I never felt the "deal" was done until the Customer said so using feedback.  With my line of products I had found I received roughly 25% to 30% feedback.

A few months ago +-..... I set up my auto feedback to give Customers their feedback when they left feedback for me.  At the same time, I set up a "Message from Hurley_Byrd_IAS" that prints onto each packing slip.  The message simply states that eBay will automatically give the Buyer positive feedback when they do the same for us.

NOW.......  I am getting a LOT more feedback. I have not crunched the numbers yet but my feedback ticker is consistently going up faster. Wild guess, I am over 40% now.

One other note, I have pre-populated my pre-writen feedback lines and I have found eBay simply runs through that list and gives each Buyer a different line each time. It works really well.

Re: Working Well - Auto Feedback and Packing Slip Message

Leave customers feedback only AFTER they leave feedback for me?

Why would I want to do that?

My customers get a automatic positive feedback thanking them for their purchase as soon as they purchase from me.

BTW is your feedback set up to leave the customer a positive feedback  even if they leave you a negative feedback?

I didn't think so.

That way, if they leave you a negative, you leave 'em a negative right back!

Re: Working Well - Auto Feedback and Packing Slip Message

I give Auto Feedback immediately; one less thing to do (don't we all have enough? Bookkeeping, building, packing, labeling etc.)

Over the years, what REALLY matters is my $$ and the sales the buyers make from me.

If 'feedback' makes the few that it really matters to, happy, then I'm happy I could do that for them.

Not any different than 'being thanked' for 'shopping at our store' when you pay for something from the corner market.

Oh, and I don't print 'packing slips' because I write my own on a 'flyer' that shows all the other goodies they can get from me. Win/Win and not 1 buyer in 50,000+ has ever asked 'where's my packing slip'?

Re: Working Well - Auto Feedback and Packing Slip Message

I think a lot of buyers think the feedback is the first line to solve disputes. They don't realize or won't take the time to contact the seller and work it out. I have not had that experience yet but a negative feedback pretty much ties a sellers hands on resolution.

Re: Working Well - Auto Feedback and Packing Slip Message

I've been using the automatic feedback for awhile now, but I don't require them to give me positive first.  That doesn't feel right to me and I personally don't like that when I buy something.

Not true.

If you have a unhappy buyer who leaves a seller a negative feedback, the seller can still by all means try to resolve the problem ... although most wont because of ego.

Getting negative feedback might make a seller upset, and less likely to want to work with the buyer, but it does not affect their ability to do so.  In fact, if they resolve the situation to the buyer's satisfaction, they can give the buyer an opportunity to revise the feedback.

Re: Working Well - Auto Feedback and Packing Slip Message

I’ve never sent a packing slip before, not really sure how to generate 1 I use QR codes, not sure what drop shipping is ether but everything I sell is in my possession. Never had a buyer complain about not having 1. Far as feedback I just right a Ty on the packaging and if they decide to leave feedback I most certainly will also.

As a buyer this message wouldn't quite sit right with me. I always give positive feedback to sellers unless things go really sideways with the transaction and the seller is unresponsive or rude.

That being said I don't like it when sellers ask me to leave positive feedback. I can decide whether to leave positive on my own without prompting from the seller.

It is nice to get a message with the packing slip that is pleasant. Asking for positive feedback isn't one of them, at least to me.................

Re: Working Well - Auto Feedback and Packing Slip Message

I leave auto FB.

I do so because there are buyers who need the validation that FB gives them, and it annoys me when these people share their irrational need with me.

Re: Working Well - Auto Feedback and Packing Slip Message

Most of the sellers I've dealt with, I'd say 80%, never include a packing list or a note.  As far as the feedback statement goes, I'm in agreement with @roccotacodad54 , I don't care much for sellers asking for feedback even though I always leave it.  A good number lately haven't reciprocated, and I couldn't care less.  A statement such as 'leave me positive, and I'll leave you positive' is almost flirting with feedback extortion, IMO.

Packing slip? I don’t bother with packing slips.
As for feedback, if I get it great…..if I don’t get it that’s fine too, I don’t sell to acquire feedback.

Re: Working Well - Auto Feedback and Packing Slip Message

Just my opinion, but if I saw a message like that, I'd leave no feedback at all.

It matters not to me whether or not a seller leaves FB, since it has to be positive anyway.

I cannot remember when I have not received an invoice in an Ebay purchase I made.

Guess it comes with who you buy from and probably what you buy.

Few of my sales come from yard salers or RA practitioners. None when I do my buying right.

Even the cheap Chinese tech items I buy come with a packing slip or invoice.

As for the personal touch - only if the other party can't resist. I do have an idiotic message on my invoices which was written by Ebay.

I do have some repeat buyers who are highly dramatic and make me laugh my a off with the FB they leave.
