There's a brand new account that just purchased an item the same day the account was created. No reviews, no history on his feedback. I have no problem with that but when this person tells me to add to his address, that's a red flag for me. I would like to know if I'm in the right here. I told the buyer that I can cancel the order due to invalid address, refund him in full, and I'll relist the item for him to purchase with his corrected his address.
I wanted to know that if this person is INDEED a scammer, will I get negative feedback for canceling the order? Now the address looked fine to me, but he wanted me to add to the address. He said he was unable to which is why he posted a note for me to add to his address.
I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post the suspected scammers' account name here.

Not necessarily, have a GA address but have had items shipped to other states at the time of order.

Okay, I'll ship it out. It seems weird that he had a California address a few hours ago and now has a Texas address. I'm a small seller so I'm very cautious of things like this, no matter the value of the item.
Thank you for the info.

@kirakirashina Yes and no ... I have friends who sell on eBay and they have one customer who purchases
specific items from them and those items get shipped to different addresses every time. The Buyer never leaves Feedback, there are never any returns nor are their charge backs later, etc.
Nothing strange about a Buyer getting notification of their purchase and confirmation of where it is going and realizing OOPS! I moved, better get that changed ...
Now, lets be clear, I am not saying a scam is impossible, I just don't think on that particular item it is a scam.
Please post back here if there is an issue.

Yes. My new concern is that he originally had a California address and now repurchased the item and has a Texas shipping address. I'll still ship the item out and keep an eye on the tracking. Its not the value of the item that is my concern. I just don't like the idea of being scammed. Feels like I'm being violated.

It happens to most Seller so you may as well prepare for it ... it's business and not personal and to your point, it's not about the money but when it happens on a more expensive item it feels worse ( we know from our own expereince). They are no better than a shoplifter or someone breaking and entering your home, they just get away with it online because there is no infrastructure to capture and prosecute them despite the fact that they are likely repeat offenders ...

I wouldn't worry as long as you're shipping to the exact address shown on the order. You're protected if you get a delivery scan from an Item Not Received case, and it won't matter for other types of cases.

When a transaction is Cancelled, for example for Problem with Address, both parties can leave feedback.
The Cancellation is considered to be a friendly decision made between two sensible adults.
He said he was unable to which is why he posted a note for me to add to his address.
That would concern me too.
Although I have printed out an address once, then handwritten the apartment number which the buyer had told me about later.
I also googled the address and it was indeed a small apartment building.
