I am dealing with a buyer with lousy feedback profile (he is a seller too). Sloppy English with missing words and no punctuations. He wanted a return. Even though I bought a eBay return shipping label for him, he is now returning via UPS. Is he sending a bag of poop? How should I handle this?

eBay would not even bother to verify if the claim is true? There are so many items on eBay that can't be as simple as title description only.

It's actually 15%.

You need to give up trying to be right.

If your buyer foolish enough give you UPS tracking number @winkintime you need call UPS right way find out if your address actual recipient yes or no reason buyer not use USPS because USPS deliver to xip code but UPS tracking not show xip code only city and state so buyer can return tracking anywhere your city not your address same as return delivered your address but note on door UPS not see because no package for your door

He made a big mistake by not using the label you sent.
First because you are not required to pay his return shipping cost.
Second because refusing your label, when you have supplied it, means he is not conforming to eBay's requirements.
Now, if he does send back the item -in the condition in which it was sent- ethically you should overlook his stubborn attitude and refund. BBL. Relist. Move on.
But if you really feel he may send something else, put a note on your door for UPS asking them to HOLD the shipment for pickup. When you go to the UPS office to pick up, which is I recognize a pain in the patootie, open it in front of the clerk.
Not that this will help with eBay, but if he sends something unpleasant, the UPS workers may be disgusted enough to start an internal enquiry about his shipments. He may find he can no longer use that courier. He may even have broken some laws about what can and cannot be shipped-- I'm thinking biohazards here.
Hi @femmefan1946, I want to clarify that a buyer is not required to use an eBay label. Even when these labels are made available, the buyer can still elect to use their own label or a label provided by the seller in messages, and would only need to upload valid tracking so we can confirm return delivery. I also wanted to add that seller will not be charged for an eBay label if the buyer does not use it.
Aside from this, a buyer using their own label should not be cause for alarm; not only is an alternative label well within the buyer's rights to choose, but there could have been a problem with the label provided, or with printing the label that was available. Though our expectation of the seller would be that they address any label issues brought to their attention and ensure that they have taken reasonable steps to cover the cost of return shipping, the buyer may not know how to obtain return shipping compensation when the original label is not working properly, or may simply not be concerned with paying for return shipping themselves. Some buyers feel that obtaining their own label allows them to obtain additional protections (such as insurance), and while these protections are not necessary, it is a common enough occurrence that I wanted to provide it as potential explanation.

"....a buyer using their own label should not be cause for alarm;..."
Generally, it should not be cause for alarm. However, the sold listings of this eBayer show this buyer sold cleaver folding knives with reason to sell is needing money to buy handguns. ...... Very subtle.
Should you look into it? Is eBay responsible if your seller is anthraxed?
