When will eBay be sold?

I used to list 50+ items a day, but now I can only stomach (like I do dealing with utilities, politicians, and taxes) as the overall selling experience has plummeted in the past 4-5 years, and quicker than it did the previous 10-12 years.

Examples: Item specifics?! How many things can be listed on say a round brass ball? Auto-returns?! You can repurpose an antique musical instrument as art, it doesn't fit due to size and return it automatically? Cannot use "500+" as a quantity in Item specifics? Talk to an eBay "colleague" who will openly tell you they do not sell on eBay, yet supports selling on eBay as their job?

Heard of Amazon? The one that about closed Walmart? eBay's response:

"Get me (us) some of that Walmart leadership!"

Please let eBay be sold.

Typical of any business.  The CEOs & stockholders take the wealth & the riff raff making them all of the money scrounge for the leftovers.

Re: When will eBay be sold?

I'm thinking they better sell it quick - My guess is they've just about run out of ways to plug all the holes in the dam they don't want anyone to see leaking... There is a reckoning coming...

I personally would like to know what portion of their "unique user" data is actually from unpaid items? Anyone?

eBay will be sold when eBay decides to sell it.

Happy Selling

Are there currently any potential buyers willing to undertake the challenge of restoring ebay into a growth stage ?

Probably not - I think Elon Musk should buy it and use it as a tax shelter...

Re: When will eBay be sold?

I think Amazon should buy eBay since a lot of sellers are selling items on Amazon on eBay already...LOL

Many buyers make purchases on eBay and it comes in an Amazon package or box.

Won't work for me...I have a life and not the time for one-day shipping.

Re: When will eBay be sold?

EBay is actually bought and sold every day the stock market is open. They are a publically traded company and therefore owned and sold by the shareholders unlike a privately held company. Publically traded companies as a whole are bought and sold through mergers and acquisitions.

@dbfolks166mt ,

As a matter of fact eBay stock hit a new 52 week high today. The market must like what Mr. Iannone and company is doing.

The market seems to like what everyone is doing lately. DOW hit 40K for the first time in history on 17 May.

Re: When will eBay be sold?

It sounds like you're expressing frustration with the current state of selling on eBay, citing difficulties with listing items, navigating policies like auto-returns, and encountering unhelpful customer service experiences. You also seem to be comparing eBay unfavorably to Amazon, especially in terms of customer service and leadership.

Your suggestion for eBay to be sold indicates a desire for significant change within the company, possibly hoping that new ownership or leadership could address these issues and improve the selling experience for users like yourself.

Actually however the shareholders only own and sell the actual stock.

They "own" no physical part of ebay the corporation.
A shareholder can not walk into Ebay headquarters and walk out with an office chair because they "own" that part of ebay, fact is the shareholder owns nothing but the actual shares of stock.

Re: When will eBay be sold?

Maybe next year or 2. Sales down, sellers and buyers down, but profits up.  The stock always looks good because they spent the last 2 years raising fees.  As they lose sales, we'll get higher transaction fees, and you won't be able to sell anything without a 20% promotion rate.

Its the search algorithm they built for profit, but not sales really.  But of course I treat it like an amazon store with all new products, expecting a listing to survive a hundred sales before the ebay gods decide to bury it because the last 6 potential buyers didn't purchase.

It seems like its designed for flippers and re-sellers, bringing in a lot of revision activity.  Unfortunately, packing orders everyday isn't enough activity to keep the store fresh.  The old adage is "list everyday", but playing wack-a-mole constantly with revisions is a full time job on its own.

I think it'll keep its niche, but new products, especially private label, amazon has taken over completely.  Sellers move there, and match their ebay sales within months, with lower fees.

I can only speak for myself and my category tho. Good luck

Let me help with that.

Here is the definition of Volunteer as it appears you are not aware of what it means.

person who does something, especially helping other peoplewillingly and without being forced or paid to do it
