What listing data does the ebay search pull from? I can't seem to find the answer to this anywhere. We have recently started selling radio show cds with various artists on them. The only time our items pull up are when the searched words are in the title. The item specifics and description seem to not matter when it comes to using the search feature. There aren't enough characters in the title field to list all of the bands, if that is the case. Can anyone help me figure out how to get our items seen more readily (w/o paying for promotions)?

I spent some time this morning revising some listings to reflect allll of the bands within the 'Artist' item specifics field and took them out of the title.
When you edit a listing, especially the Title, the listing needs to be re-indexed before the changes will be reflected in search.
Re-indexing can take up to 24 hours to complete.
Right now when I search your listings I am getting 8 results for AC/DC.

Can you please post some references (artist name, CD manufacturer, era, related particulars) here so that we can try to search on them?
As for getting your items seen more readily (which does not / not necessarily equal more sales) without having to pay for ads, you can read something I just posted here.

eBay uses the Title and the Item Specifics for search, Description is only used in an Advanced Search.

Well, I just realized that I used my personal account to post this question so pardon that. We initially picked a few of the artists at random to put in the title. In the initial listings, we had 10 listings with titles containing the band AC/DC. We got a request for more shows with AC/DC on them. Knowing that we had more shows with that band, I spent some time this morning revising some listings to reflect allll of the bands within the 'Artist' item specifics field and took them out of the title. When I did an advanced search of AC/DC with our seller name (postersandwhatnot) from my personal account the only shows that pulled up were the 8 items that I did not revise that have AC/DC in the title.

eBay's search is supposed to include the Item Specifics, not just the Title. That said, it's possible special characters like the slash in AC/DC are messing with it, so that could be an issue specific to that band and a few others, rather than a widespread issue. Have you tried the same search with a band that is just plain text characters in the whole name, just to test?
I know I can attest for items we've listed, I've been able to find them by information in the Item Specifics before, so I know it works at least some of the time.

It's kind of hard to figure out what's going on when you post with the non-selling ID.

That makes sense. Thank you. I will check it again tomorrow.

Thank you. I haven't tried that but I will.

Nobody knows anymore.
The basic initial search used to pull results from the title.
If that didn't work like you wanted, you could specify other areas.
But now, All anybody has is nothing more than a guess as to where search results were pulled from, or why
And that lack of information is intentional

None of the above is accurate, Item Specifics have been part of search since forever. Perhaps you are confusing this with search RANKING in Best Match, this does include many other factors.
