You are running auctions and you have required buyers provide a payment method prior to bidding.

It requires buyers to set up payment before they bid, purchase or make an offer.  They way if they win the auction or their offer is accepted, the payment goes through right away. Same with a but it now.  The payment is made at the same time as the sale.  Sellers don't have to wait and buyers don't have to come back and see if they won or if their offer was accepted. It all paid and ready to go.

Sellers can opt to use it or not.

In your Site Preferences for Buyer Requirements, it looks something like this.

If you have the option checked that buyers have to provide their payment info BEFORE they can bid, then that is what your buyers will need to do before they can bid on anything you are selling at auction.  If the buyer wins the auction, they have ONE hour after the auction ends to change the payment source or ship to address, but they can't remove everything, they only can change the source.  Then their payment source of their choice will get charged for the purchase.
