What happened?

I'm a new seller sine Feb. this year.  I'm only part time because I am disables. After a few month selling my account was doing well for me. I was getting a sale about every day or at least 5 a week. Now NOTHING!  I upped my membership about the same time to basic to increase my "no insertion fees" And now no sales. Did I do Something wrong? I was just trying to grow my inventory. Full disclosure I also took down 20 listings for National Geographic (they do not sell individually, I learned the hard way). Is that what stopped my sales? Who should I address my concern to?

Re: What happened?

Sorry, but that is how it is with on line sales. There are no guarantees. Some months you’ll sell like gangbusters some months all you get is crickets. Sales may pick up for the holidays.
There is no one to address your concerns with, it is what it is.

Re: What happened?

I don't know if there's any truth to this conspiracy theory... I just know that it has showed up a number of times on the boards, over the years. This being that for a brief period, a new seller's items are given a listing exposure priority. Possibly to instill a sense of confidence and enthusiasm. As I say, I don't know that there is any truth to this, so please don't shoot the messenger. 😉

Re: What happened?

There is not anyone to address, concerning slow sales.

For new sellers, much of the time, their most desirable and unique items are listed first and they sell quicker than other, less desirable items. What a seller is left with are the slower moving items. Many of those items will never sell.

You could try a markdown sale event on the items that have not sold since you started listing.

Re: What happened?

In my opinion inflation is finally strapping the consumer. I have noticed my sales are also slow since about the beginning of September, especially on my lower priced items.

Re: What happened?

You could do what some sellers do.

Contact ebay and tell them your sales are slow.

I've never understood WHY they do that but you could do it as well.

Re: What happened?

Yes, I think we're still waiting to hear from someone who contacted eBay about slow sales and found that it made a difference.

Re: What happened?

Know that you are not alone and this is brought up quite a bit on this discussion board.

Sellers have good days, bad days, good months and bad months.

All you can do is keep listing a few items a day or more if you can.

Review your pricing to make sure it is in line with those competitors whose products may be on your item's selling page. Reduce pricing when necessary, send offers, have sales and markdowns.

Holidays are here so those items will be looked at more.

Be well!

Re: What happened?

My sales are slow too. Monday morning I'm going to call the Dept. of Justice!

Re: What happened?

Lol  I have to laugh at this "gangbusters some months."  I'm on a 2-year drought with eBay.  This isn't an "ebb & flow" situation.  A Tsunami sucked the water out to the ocean forever & the beach became barren.
