What a scam.

Sold an item for 445 dollars PLUS SHIPPING. End of the day I get 386 in my account.... EXPLAIN. I dont understand how I sell something for 445 plus shipping and end up with 386 that is insanely ridiculous. I also ended up paying for shipping pretty much. buyer paid 25 dollars shipping but I had to buy a 20 **bleep** dollar shipping label. at that **bleep** point I might as well just pay for shipping and hell while im at it I should just pay for the **bleep** item im selling too. **bleep** ebay never would I ever... EVER suggest this scam website to anyone. use facebook market place or literally any other sketchy website. chances are youll actually get your money for the item you sold. not to mention this site barley **bleep** works. I find myself refreshing constantly and getting errors so not only is this website SCAM but its a **bleep**ty scam at that. couldve at least put forth some effort for **bleep**s sake.

Oh my, you have clearly not understood Ebay's fee structure.  Oh well, that is the least of your problems.   If you get really, really lucky, you can thank your lucky stars if you end up with $386 net.  But you, as a new seller, just sold one of the most scammed items on Ebay that has a host of young males lurking about looking for some new seller like yourself to list.  It is now time to get down on your knees and pray to Baby Jesus that you are not scammed out of your item.  If you have not yet shipped the item then I would suggest that you simply cancel the transaction, take the final fee loss, and then move on and away from selling on Ebay.

Surprise! But it sounds about right...

Fees are based on total sale... Item + s&h + sales tax (where applicable) + $.30 Transaction fee. Then you buy postage.

Yes, the buyer paid you to ship it, then you pay the carrier to deliver it.

What was the total amount the buyer paid, item, shipping and sales tax?

Have a great day.

Before you start selling - learn what are the fees of doing so.

Its like you posted an add on a bus and expected it to be free...

If you saw what I was paying in fees for every $1000 in sales you might have a heart attack, and I really think you may. Unfortunately the cost of selling keeps increasing, margins diminishing.

The payout looks correct to me (but it has been a long day). Since you don't provide specific numbers I will use these as an example:

Item cost: $445

Shipping charged: $25

Tax (have to guess since tax rates vary but will go with 8% tax):  $37.60

Total payment made by buyer:  $507.60 ($445 + $25 + $37.60 = $507.60)

Ebay Fee: 12.9% + .30 = $65.78

Gross payout: $404.22

Cost of shipping label: $20

NET PAYOUT: $384.22

The OP did see it.....the percentages charged for the fees are the same regardless if it's $100 or $1000.

It amazes me how many sellers post on this board to publicly admit they sold something without bothering to learn the basics about how eBay works.

So I guess when you buy something you don't look at the "bleep" price tag?

Buyer paid you 25 **bleep** dollars for shipping, it only cost you 20 **bleep** dollars and you’re **bleep** complaining?

Ebay fees have remained relatively stable.  What has increased are postal rates which are applied to final value fees.  Gross margins only diminish if you do not raise your prices accordingly.  I have been slowly reviewing all my prices and I have been raising the prices accordingly.  As postage rates continue to increase people will need to revaluate their business model and make sure they get out before they are no longer competitive.  The best business decision I ever made was to close my brick and mortar store before it was actually losing money, a decision made after realizing that the writing was on the wall and that the sales trend was as clear as a bell..

You made $5 on the shipping and you are complaining?

I keep stubbing my toe on **bleep**ty.

And you made $5 on **bleep** shipping - did you think all of that shipping would go right into your pocket?  But, yeah - put your hands together and keep them there that this sales goes well.  Most people are honest but, well...that market is twitchy.  I'm not sure how much better it is on Meatverse but, you know, always an option.

He didn't make $5, they took 15% of the shipping, he may have cleared $1.25 at best on shipping, none at all if you put that measly bit toward the fees and FVF he paid.

I do agree they should keep their hands off the shipping, but if you were to sell  at a local auction, you would likely pay between 25% and 30% of the final sale price, plus many if not most charge the buyer another 10%-15% buyers premium.

One local auction house will even let bidders buy online or by phone, then they have the option of having items shipped. Most double the shipping charges for larger items and charge storage beyond the day of the auction.
