We had a watch that was running when it was listed. It was sent to the buyer. The buyer said it did not run and they wish to return it. We do not take returns. What is the correct thing to do?

If the OP is adamant about his "no returns" policy.
He doesn't have to take the return.
But he will have to REFUND.

I sell many watches, I will always replace the battery before shipping, it doesn't matter if the watch is running at the time of shipment.
Buyers have months to return, and you don't want an old battery to cause the return. If you don't know how to replace the battery, then take it to a jeweler to replace, you can't sell watches and ask customers to replace batteries, some watches don't work even after you replace the battery because of other issues like acid leaks.

Due to ebay's "Money Back Guarantee, you dont have any options where you dont lose out - If you want the item back because it was expensive, you'll need to have them request a return through the ebay system and then accept the return and pay for return shipping - Sad thing is, if it was expensive, the odds of getting it back are slim - Chances are you'll get some other old non-working timepiece back, or perhaps just a rag in a box... But maybe you'll get the original STILL WORKING item back because they just didnt like it, but didnt want to pay to return it to you, which would be best case scenario for you...
Best of luck to you and happy ebaying...
