I really have searched for this answer, but as you know there is so much info out there.
I have sold vintage crochet & knitting patterns on another site for a long time and would like to do so on Ebay. Keeping in mind, 95% of the patterns sell for less then $2.00. Can I and how do I, Where do I go on Ebay to sell old digital PDF patterns on Ebay. .
Please

Selling digital items is a no no here unless you are approved to sell digital items otherwise they should be listed in ad format under Everything Else > Information Products

So, I guess trying to sell very old crochet patterns such as I have at less the $2.00 is out. Can't afford $9.95 for the ad rate for 30 days. Okay can I sell old patterns that I have, if I print them out and actually mail to the customers?

Only if you have the rights to reprint and sell them.

On the other site they just need to be considered vintage. Which is before 2003. Is that what you mean?

Most patterns are copyrighted and are owned by such:
Counterfeit laws apply same as say movies.
You can and will find your self in a great deal of trouble selling copy's of such material.

What is it? Out of print over 70 years and not reclaimed is in the public domain and can be copied?

Unless they're in the public domain or you have the publisher's permission to sell them, digital or paper copies of the patterns shouldn't be offered.
You didn't mention the site. If it's Etsy, you'll find thousands of them there, but the fact that they are there is probably due to Etsy not policing their items as closely as Ebay does or setting up restrictive guidelines before the fact. Most of the sellers there don't even credit the original source of the page they're scanning. In most cases, excepting public domain or publisher's permission, rights to the patterns still belong to the publishers and/or the designers of the patterns.

All works first published or released in the United States before January 1, 1927, have lost their copyright protection, effective January 1, 2022. In the same manner, each January 1 will result in literature, movies and other works released 96 years earlier entering the public domain until 2073. From 2073 works by creators who died seven decades earlier will expire each year.[2] Works that were published without a copyright notice before 1977 are also in the public domain, as are those published before 1989 if the copyright was not registered within five years of the date of publication, and those published before 1964 if the copyright was not renewed 28 years later.[

There is no such thing as a very old digital PDF file. Seriously. Vintage anything before 2003?
No, I would say you cannot print those out and sell them here (or anywhere legally) and at under 2.00 each you wouldn't be making dime one so it would be a waste of time.

Thank you. Very good research.
