JUST CHECKING TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE IMPRESSIONS AND THUS SALES FELL OFF A CLIFF YESTERDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH TODAY. THIS IS MY FIRST HOLIDAY SEASON SELLING ON EBAY AND WAS CURIOUS IF THIS A GENERAL REDUCTION IN ACTIVITIY ON THE EBAY PLATFORM OR WEATHER IT WAS MORE SPECIFICALLY RELATED TO MY ACCOUNT. JUST LOOKING FOR OTHERS FEEDBACK REGARDING THIS.

MY IMPRESSIONS AND SALES ARE RUNNING ABOUT A THIRD OF TWO DAYS AGO.

THANKS.....YOU ARE THE ONE THAT SENT ME ON THE SEARCH FOR A SOLUTION. WHEN I FIRST READ YOUR COMMENT I WONT TELL YOU WHAT I WAS THINKING. HOWEVER, I THEN PURSUED YOUR COMMENT AND FOUND MY STORE OR MY ITEMS WERE NOT SHOWING UP. WHY I HAVE NO IDEA. SO I BELIEVER THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. SOME TIME ON TUESDAY AFTERNOON IS WHEN MY SALES AND IMPRESSION FELL OFF THE CLIFF. SO I BELIEVE THAT IS WHEN MY STORE AND ITEMS WHEN DOWN ONLY TO BE BACK UP THIS MORNING. THE SALES I HAVE ON WEDENSDAY AND I SPIRALLED DOWNWARD ALL DAY AND THROUGH THURSDAY. I THINK THE FEW SALES I DID HAVE WERE PROBABLY JUST FROM PREVIOUSLY WATCHED ITEMS. ANYWAYS THANKS FOR CHECKING FOR ME AND THANKS FOR BEING BOLD ENOUGH TO CALL IT LIKE YOU SAW IT. IT WAS THE BIT OF INFORMATION I NEEDED TO BEGIN MY SEARCH FOR A SOLUTION!!

In general my sales are down. It started in November. My first instinct is to blame it on the Ebay search engine messing with thigns, but I'll wait until after the holidays. I don't sell things that are given as presents

ANOTHER UPDDATE.....AS THE SAGA GETS SOLVED. IT LOOKS LIKE WHEN MY STORE WAS NOT APPARENT AND MY LISTING WERE NOT SEARCHABLE AND THEN MY STORE WAS ALL OF A SUDDEN APPARENT THE ONLY ITEMS THAT I FOUND IN MY STORE WAS ANY NEW ITEMS I HAD JUST LISED OR ANY OLDER ITEMS I HAD RELISTED OR SOLD SIMILAR. THOSE ITEMS I FOUND IN MY STORE THAT ALL OF SUDDEN WAS APPARENT AND SEARCHABLE WAS LIMITED TO MUST MY MOST RECENT ACTIVITY OF LISTING WHICH WAS A SMALL % OF MY PREVIOUS STORE BALANCE. LIKE ABOUT 10% OR LESS. THAT LED ME TO BELIEVE THAT BECAUSE THEY WERE RECENTLY LISTED WERE THEY THE ONES IN THE STORE AND THUS SERARCHABLE. SO I CONCLUDED THAT I NEED TO UPDATE ALL THE ITEMS IN MY STORE. SO I ENDED AND SOLD SIMLIAR ALL THE ITEMS IN MY STORE AND AGAIN POOF.....ALL 1500 ITEMS ARE NOW IN MY STORE AND THEY ARE ALL SEARCHABLE AGAIN. INADDITION, MY IMPRESSIONS HAVE SKYROCKED HEADING BACK TOWARD WHERE THEY WERE EARLIER IN THE WEEK AND I HAVE ALREADY SOLD 4 OR 5 ITEMS BY NOON. WOW...WHAT A JOURNEY. SORRY FOR THE LONG POST AND THE CONTINUED UPDATE BUT WHAT I HAVE FOUND AND LEARNED MIGHT BE VERY HELPFUL TO SOMEONE ELSE WITH THE SAME ISSUE I HAVE HAD. I HOPE IT DOES HELP SOMEONE OUT BY SAVING THEM A STEP OR TWO IN IDENFYING SOLUTIONS TO SIMILAR ISSUES.

Yesterday was a good day - 7 sales + 1 unpaid sale (which is likely gonna get canceled or paid at monday~).

Today 2 sales + 1 decent offer which i may just go ahead and accept so that's 3 sales.

No complaints from me really.

I can pretty much tell you, as a fact, that your listings will disappear or be pushed way back in the search a few times a month. I've noticed mine do that at least on the 8th, 16th, 22nd and 27th. It's an algorithm so that they can get all listings in front of people. Nobody at ebay wil tell you that but if you look at your sales history you may see your trend.

Holiday season is pretty much over. Most buyers are smart enough to know that packages might not arrive by Christmas.

I'd say it's time to start planning next holiday season but eBay's Fall Updates make that a tough chore.

And why does Christmas effect the fact that sale on automotive parts slow?

It's more common than you think.

On another ID, I sell postage stamps for collectors. We had a shop for 35 years before we retired.

And every December sales were awful.

We sold starter kits for children and gift certificates and that was all.

Finally we worked out that our customers gave themselves an allowance for their hobby, and in December used that allowance for Christmas gifts.

Your parts for commericial buyers probably hold up reasonably well, but I wonder if your "collectible" parts for older/vintage/antique cars are the ones that drop off?

Although our product lines are vastly different, perhaps our buyers' mindsets are similar.

Also, compare 2021 to 2019 and 2018, ignoring 2020 as an outlier. See if you can spot a rhythm to sales.

FOR SOME ODD REASON MY STORE BECAME NON-APPARENT AND MY ITEMS WERE NOT SHOWING UP ON SEARCH.

I have a ~~theory~~ hypothesis about that too.

When the algorithm sees a Search without Viewing or Buying, it moves the Searcher to other stuff that may interest him more.

Given the huge number of items in any given category, your items may not be added to the Search results when the same Search is performed again.

Also Search is not just Best Match, although I'm pretty sure most customers never get past that.

Results will also be swayed if the Searcher uses "About to Close" or "Highest Price plus Shipping" or "North America Only".

It's one reason experienced sellers occasionally end slow moving items for a few days (or hours or weeks) then relist them as Sell Similar which tells the algorithm this is a New Listing.

And why we are encouraged to list every day, to be found by those who Search "Newly Listed" and "About to Close".

MY LAST UPDATE. I AM HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS OF THE DAY. THE DAY IS NOT QUITE DONE BUT I ENDED UP WITH OVER A 400 % INCREASE IN IMPRESSIONS FROM THE PREVIOUS 2 DAYS, 11 INDIVIDUAL SALES TODAY TOTALLING ABOUT $400. WOW. WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DAY CAN MAKE. I FELT LIKE A BEAT DOG YESTERDAY BUT CHEERS TO SOLICITING FEEDBACK, LISTENING AND EVALUATING FEEDBACK, KEEP AN OPEN MIND AT TIMES, STAYING THE COURSE WHEN IT IS RIGHT AND HUNKERING DOWN AND PLOWING THROUGH THE WORK THAT NEEDS TO GET DONE TO MAKE THE DIFFERENCE. IT WORKED AT LEAST THIS TIME!!
