Hello Community,

We want to make the Community a safe and enjoyable place for all to come participate and learn from one another. The Community team has recently updated the Community Guidelines. You can find them here.

I'll keep this post up for until the end of day on July 6th for feedback on the Guidelines.

Thank you for participating in Community!

Sorry--I was under the impression it was an open discussion. Another member replied to your post in Message #17 and received a response from you in your Message #24. I thought since it was okay for that member to reply to you, it would be okay for me to reply to you, too.

Is this thread intended to be an open, back-and-forth, give-and-take sharing of ideas on some of the changes to the Community rules? Or should posts be directed only to you?

What good are the guidelines without enforcement?     Or does that enforcement only pertain to 'those who should know better'?

As long as the threats of suing, complaints of fees being taken unfairly and money being stolen by eBay continue-guidelines won't matter.  Those people don't care what the guidelines are.

They are not piles if you buy more shelves.  Then they are death stacks.

I had never heard of a death pile before reading this thread, but I have heard of death cleaning (a/k/a "Swedish death cleaning"). Basically it's a deep dive into all your stuff, thinning out anything and everything that you're either no longer using or don't want to have dumped on your descendants to wade through.

I recall a forum that had a "Death Pile Support Group" a few years back. I can't remember which site it was hosted on though.

"Report inappropriate behavior by clicking the “arrow dropdown” in the top right-hand corner of any post or private message, then selecting “Report Inappropriate Conduct.”"

sheila@ebay: Minor correction to the Guidelines wording: the link to moderators in the upper right pulldown menu of each posting reads "Report Inappropriate Content," not "Report Inappropriate Conduct."

What the bleep is a "death pile"?

@nobody*s_perfect   Very common term, at least amongst clothing sellers.  Maybe not so common for other categories?  It's your pile of inventory that has sat forever b/c it needs further action, whether that be mending, research, stain removal, any number of things that you never get around to doing, so it's the pile where problem inventory goes to die LOL 😀

People will receive better CS on these boards than the CS that ebay provides.  Just my opinion.

True story but many posters don't believe or heed the advice they are given.  The labels are goofy...rock star doesn't exactly scream " knowledgeable and experienced seller here, listen to me".  sheila@ebay

it is an odd term to use.  Maybe some people think that's your profession.

They should do away with those labels altogether. "Thrill-Seeker" or "Superstar" doesn't inspire confidence either.

Agreed.  For myself, I dislike the "Rockstar" label because I don't like rock music and, from what I'm forced to see of them on the so-called news, I don't like rockstars, either.

My gripe aside, all the labels seem a bit juvenile.

Yes, the labels are lame.  I would think being noted as a "Rockstar" would scream the exact opposite of knowledgeable and experienced. lol.

My guess is that someone very young came up with these labels because they thought they were "cool."  🙄
