Hello Community,
We want to make the Community a safe and enjoyable place for all to come participate and learn from one another. The Community team has recently updated the Community Guidelines. You can find them here.
I'll keep this post up for until the end of day on July 6th for feedback on the Guidelines.
Thank you for participating in Community!

numerous times I was told to sell somewhere else or to close the store all together when I was contemplating only downgrading. It suggests that this is only recommendation maybe?
That is and has been a breach of the community rules. You likely skated by on those because no one reported your post. It certainly doesn't mean your post was OK, it only means you weren't caught.”
MY POST? MY POST REPORTED? DOES IT MEAN THAT I WAS IN TROHBLE FOR ANGERING SOmEONE (long time member) BY ASKING FOR OPINION ON STORE DOWNGRADE? WHAT RULE DID I VIOLATE? 😨
I THINK YOU MISUNDERSTOOD . THIS WAS SAID TO ME IN MY POST
No need to yell at me. It serves to purpose. Yes, I did misunderstand but still no need to yell. I am capable of taking responsibility for what I have said and apologize if necessary. And I am sorry I misunderstood. Make no mistake however, you still don't need to yell. I am simply a mere human.
I have do idea if you angered someone else or what your issues might be, nor can I tell you if what you posted was a violation since I never saw the post. FYI, I never said it was a policy violation to ask or discuss downgrading your store.
I downgraded my store back when MP was going sitewide and Ebay changed the rules on the stores. Downgrading my store made good since for me and has served me well for the past year.

Regarding your issues with how the threads are presenting to you. Sometimes spending a little time in your Community Set Up for your account can really help. There are all kinds of setting you get to choose from.
For example I have my pages set to have 50 posts per page and the most current post shows at the bottom. That works well for me. There are other options so that you can set it however it works best for you. If you need more help, just ask.

People will receive better CS on these boards than the CS that ebay provides. Just my opinion.
True story but many posters don't believe or heed the advice they are given. The labels are goofy...rock star doesn't exactly scream " knowledgeable and experienced seller here, listen to me". sheila@ebay
Agreed. The ranks were implemented long before I came onboard. It's on my list for next year to figure out better names or maybe remove them all together but still have a way to acknowledge our top posters.
Being a "top poster" does not mean they are a knowledgeable poster. It just means they post more than maybe others might. A lot of members with lots of post are social in nature and often pull a lot of helpfuls too which kind of makes that number a bit wacky too.
I'm not suggesting anyone is doing anything wrong. I'm simply saying it may not represent what it is that many think it should.
The current ranking names are solely based on how many posts a given member makes.

What do people think about Kudos?
Wish they would make the whole business go away. Helpfuls are subjective and often have zero corollary to the subject matter at hand. I may "like" a post as it is helpful to me, but not to the OP's question, post, rant, diatribe, etc.
Have never understood the whole "Rockstar" thing - it gives off the wrong vibe anyway.
The "leader board" needs to just go away - it means nothing anyway. No reason to keep track of "helpfuls" or whatever in the first place.
And the boards need to limit the number of IDs folks post with. We have people constantly creating new IDs to be just be disruptive to the boards overall. Who needs 10+ IDs to post and create under-current??
If you are truly here to post, share, learn and help others, why do you need multiple posting IDs? You don't.
Exactly. I read one post where the OP answered with one of their other IDs and was making themselves seem like they were in the right. They got busted for it too by one of our astute 'rockstars'.
Yes, we have a poster with many, many IDs and they bring out their "posse" of IDs to support whenever someone disagrees with them or they wish to drive home a snarky post or dog pile or whatever.
This Community needs a true "re-set". And it is shame - something to learn each day and someone new to meet. There are always just a few that ruin it for everyone.
Bullying is a problem. And while I know there are members that have multiple posting IDs on a thread so they can agree with themselves mostly and make it seem they are right. But then there are others that are a little group of members that maybe one of the group needs a bit of support on a thread so they call in their friends. And that ends up being a no win situation for everyone.
I have often thought if we each were assigned an ID when signing up for the community that is tied to our other accounts [selling or buying] would help with some of these problems. At least with the multiple ID's posting on one thread. I have more thoughts on this, but while it could help with the community rules, it would take us off into another direction not intended by this thread. So maybe after we get past this we can have a few other threads on different ideas on how to improve specific things, which in turn helps the entire community a little more.

@mam98031 I'm not trying to do anything. I had just read a thread about a newbie wanting to sell something very pricey and others telling him not to. We have all read those threads and we all know scammers target newbies. I haven't said anything new or earth shattering.

My experience is that, when someone responds to a post, that post then floats to the top.
For example, if I reply to your above post on about the 6th, for instance, it will float up to the top.

„No need to yell at me. It serves to purpose. ”
i didn’t yell. I wnted the response to look different from your respinse so it is easier to see (this is what I do in my listings- use capital letters to make it more visible). Sorry
i am not looking for recommedation to downgrading here (i already did). This post os about community rules, violarions, suspensions and ways to improve them.
i did anger someone aparently. Brain_burke said about angering… this is just an example how you can anger without saying anything. Rules are for some but not for all.

I don’t think it wa a problem. As seen in this thread it affected more than just me. Even pburn was lost and confused.

==============================================================
Some hi-lite with color, or use a line/lines to separate/show what they are responding to rather than CAPS

Ok. You use this i use capitals. Whatever works to make it pop

There should be also change to tagging as some find it a way to report or a way to be malicious. Like i was tagged „misinformation” when that was not the case.
you can’t even report someone for being malicious an ddisrespectful in tagging because you don;t know who tagged

When 'quoting' another poster to then make your response stand out; I use quotation marks " xxxx" and then Italics on the original post that I am responding to. I know when something is not used, it is sometimes (or the persons quote is not referenced) it makes reading a thread response very difficult.
I wish the system would just do 'something' that is automatic (putting the post in the response) when a responder clicks 'reply' besides just putting that persons name up, because many times a person has numerous posts in a thread and you, as the reader, do not know what another person is talking about.

Hi, Benz!
On a chat board, all CAPS is considered yelling. It is a universal corrollary (not just on e-Bay boards)
And your post reads as though you are upset/frustrated.
Sorry the posting process has been the source of consternation for you. It does get easier as some of the parameters become more clear, the more you use the site.
Glad you are here posting. Every voice counts, as it should. Hang in there - Happy 4th!
