Message I received from Devon regarding promoted charge issue posted on 6/6. This is for all those affected by "charges or double charges for promoted listings months after sales"
Devon stated:
There is an open ticket for sellers being charged for a promoted listing fee for any item sold months ago under ALERT15992. If there are any sellers that have had this happen, please let them know to reach out to customer support and have their account along with the order number added to the ticket as an example.
So if you were one of those many ... this is for you!

Hello everyone.
We have received a response from the Team handling this and here is what they have said:
"We recently discovered a system error which led to missed ads attribution and charging for certain sales promoted with the general campaign strategy that occurred from clicks across our Recommendations section. This error has been corrected as of May 8. If your account was one that was affected by this error we apologize for the delay in charging and any inconvenience this may have caused."

Please provide a link for those that don't know how to find the specific thread in the Technical Board. Not everyone uses it or goes there.

@mam98031 , it wasn't from the Technical Issues board, or at least wasn't only there. I saw the comment from Devon, it was a thread right here on the Selling boards: https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/Charged-promoted-fees-months-later/m-p/35121264/highlight/true...

This is due to an annual increase in system activity experienced during this period, which has caused processing delays.

Just curious, anyone ever hear of a ebay fees malfunction that benefited the sellers?
I do not think I ever have.

So, it's not a glitch? Most of the sellers are expecting a refund from eBay

It's somewhat of a sarcastic/auto reply whenever there's some issue ... you will see this in a lot of @hartungcards and a few others posts.

I feel bad for all those sellers who have taken the summer off and will never know about the glitch. Sellers should not have to contact CS to have this taken care of. I am sure ebay likes the extra income.

That is NOT the usual reaction of Ebay. While it may take them a couple months, they tend to always get the seller refunded when something like this happens. But you don't have to believe me, I will let others in a better position than I am in to assure sellers that Ebay will take care of the situation if in fact Ebay overcharged any sellers.

HI: Mam These fee glitch's aren't new , eBay was having them since 2001 .I was catching unexplained fee's every month and would have to call up the San Jose Ca. Office to confirm and remove the charges . I end up removing my credit card I used to pay auto seller fees in Jan.2003 I also removed by bank account from Bill pay a week later . I never trusted the the company and what added the Nail of no trust was July 27 2003 when the tech boys updated the seller fee payment programming. which caused major issues. during years I have been here this site had been Hacked twice . I quit selling in May 2021 with loss of couple category's and I did not want to give eBay & manage payment my bank account and credit card info .

This thread is specifically about Promoted Listing fees. The Promoted Listing program is not that old. It was started on a much smaller scale in 2015.
Now issues with one fee or another has happened off and on throughout my history of selling here [25 years]. In that history it has been my experience that Ebay always refunded my account for the over charges.
Ebay was hacked once in early 2014. No financial data was lost in that breach. Paypal was hacked a time or two while they were our money processor.

When I read this thread ,it reminded me of of their past issue's. they did refund my account too . I remember when Paypal was haked twice . Mam again thanks for the great response to compare are interesting story's of years here .

Allthough I appreciate your positive personal experience, in my 26+ years here, I can tell you that all is not what it appears to be. The relationship between eBay and it's sellers has changed dramatically. The intentional lack of transparency for ideas, changes and issues has and will continue to foster distrust. This board is evidence of that. Whether issues like these are intentional or not, reactive communication forces sellers to take a defensive stance to protect their livelihoods, especially when ethical and moral gaurdrails have been removed. From a corporate view, proactive communication is restrictive and more accountable, which in turn is more costly. Trusting that a publicly-owned, highly competitive platform with poor transparency will always play fair with it's sellers is risky in my book.

Geezzzz, you sure read a whole lot in my post that I never said or even eluded to. I said ZERO about it being intentional or not. I said NOTHING remotely close to "reactive communication forces sellers to take a defensive stance to protect their livelihoods, especially when ethical and moral gaurdrails have been removed."
Dang, you must be reading someone else's posts, NOT mine as I did not get anywhere close to saying any of that. No need to respond to this post as I'm sure it would again be nothing I came anywhere near saying. We live in alternate worlds to be sure. Good luck.

Hey @mam98031 thanks for the tag. While we don't have specifics on this particular one yet, typically these kind of situations are rectified by automated credits, processed in batches.
Generally, the only time a seller needs to contact CS for a credit, is when the situation is specific to their account.
