Unwanted notifications

How do I turn off notifications on items I’ve merely viewed. If I wanted an update I would have watched it. It’s constant and time consuming deleting/rejecting offers I have zero interest in.

You can turn off "offers to buyers" in your Communication Preferences, but this will disable all offers other than for promoted listings (which are treated differently and apparently cannot be opted out of, at least according to others who have tried).

You can decide to disable all (non-promoted) offers, but you cannot pick and choose which offers you receive.

Offers do not actually need to be rejected, they can be ignored unless you feel the need to clean up your offer page.

Unless something has changed, the notification preferences for items you just viewed, put on your watchlist, or are sitting in your cart is an all or nothing type thing.  Either you get them all or get none.

A while back, eBay allowed seller to send offers to buyers "who simply viewed" the item as well.  One way to avoid some of this is to do your search/research with another ID, in incognito mode, or not signed in to eBay.

Stay tuned for more advice from others who have more ideas.

Thanks, I don’t like or agree with it.

Many feel the same way, but those are the options eBay currently provides.

You may want to express your feelings on this matter by using the "Tell us what you think" link on the Bids & Offers page.

Could just be my imagination, but I feel like lately eBay has been counting me in more "interested buyer" counts (for merely viewing listings) than ever before.  And they're not even limiting the notifications to when the sellers send offers or reduce the BIN prices, but even pointless elbowing, like just "Don't forget about this item!" shiz-nit.  🙄

@gurlcat Same (more than usual lately). and the problem with that is how annoying it is to potential buyers.

nagging and practically begging really annoys people...it puts people off and makes it seem like the SELLER is doing this. I don't want Ebay nagging on my behalf when someone just looked without true interest in buying.

but on my "send offer" list I can't tell who I'm sending an offer to. I DON'T want Ebay suggesting I send offers to people who don't want them. I know when I get offers those sellers are in the same boat...I doubt they want to waste time sending me an offer when I'm simply doing price checking or just looking without interest in buying.

lately I think twice before tapping on certain items because I know it will result in (more) unwanted notifications. Sucks because as a seller I WANT views on my items but don't want to receive or be pressured to send every viewer an offer - they will add it to their watchlist if they are really interested.
