Unfair decision on case!!

What can I do when eBay makes a decision on a case and it’s unfair?! I need help! I sold a fragrance sample, in the pictures I show the original bottle next to the sample, showing you it’s a sample. In the description I clearly state it’s a 5ml sample and this buyer wants his money back because he wanted the full bottle, so I couldn’t come up with a solution between me and the buyer so I asked eBay to step in and right away they told me to give a refund to this person that clearly doesn’t know how to read about what he or she was buying and when I clearly state that I don’t accept returns. I feel robbed and I’m freaking mad!! 😡

Nothing to do with "being on ebay's team".

You need to STOP selling decants, period.
Reality is the leading cause of stress.

Posters are giving you advice to help you retain your selling account - that shows they are on your side. Every venue has rules you need to follow and people here are advising you what some of eBay's rules are.

Re: Unfair decision on case!!

Don't put photos of things not in the listing... It's that easy.

I seen that episode before. 😂
Well you edited it out. NM

Everyone has options. Just be sure the best option is right for you.

Re: Unfair decision on case!!

The decision was fair. Stop decanting and stop posting pics of the big bottle. You can’t do either here. Decanting is illegal in the US.

Re: Unfair decision on case!!

You mean, like not learning the site policies or studying good listing practices before starting to sell?

Yeah, I thought that I had better.
But that is what it reminded me of.

Re: Unfair decision on case!!

Hi eclipseotik.  I'm sorry you got off to a shaky start on eBay - it can be time consuming but its really important to check out the policies that sellers are governed by.

Someone posted a link for your earlier in this thread, to eBay's policy regarding cosmetics.  I recommend that you read it carefully, as if you do, you'll see that even if a sample is compliant by virtue of being a MANUFACTURER's sample, it also must contain a list of ingredients on the container.

At the bottom of most eBay screens you can find a link called POLICIES and it's fairly easy to find the policies, if any, for the type of item you're thinking of selling.  In addition, there are some seller tutorials and other information in the SELLER CENTER that can guide you.

I think that it's important to spend the necessary time up front to read this stuff, as if you had, you'd know that writing things like this in a listing is not allowed:

It’s %200 authentic. Try this amazing alternative to the same nature of Pafums De Marly’s HEROD but in my opinion it’s better!

For instance - nothing is 200% authentic.  eBay expects sellers to be 100% truthful in their listings, so words like 200% authentic are seen as deceptive and can result in a listing being removed, if reported.

Also, it's not allowed to compare a product to another brand of product. Thus if you're selling a ZARA product, it's not permitted to mention a Parfums de Marly product.

Also, watch your spelling.  Although Parfums de Marly should not have been mentioned at all, whatever words a seller DOES use should be spelled correctly.  This listing I looked at spelled Parfums  Pafums

Good luck with your future sales. Unfortunately, you are going to have to put away the little atomizers and funnel you invested in, at least as far as selling on eBay is concerned.

Don't  ever photograph ANYTHING with the item you are selling other than THE ACTUAL ITEM. This is not ETSY- It's Ebay

"MANUFACTURER's sample, it also must contain a list of ingredients on the container. "

I collect perfume. So I had to go look at some of mine after reading this. Toujours Moi has a link on the bottle for ingredients. Opium has nothing, nor does a vintage Je Reviens (sp, too lazy to get up again) by Worth. These are the big bottles. Where is there room on a weentsy little sample bottle for ingredients?
