Hello. I sell hatching eggs. Been doing this for some time now. I was just on USPS website ordering a label. They are now charging $15 extra to ship eggs as a perishable fee? Can anyone tell me when they started doing this? I might have to reconsider continuing with this if it starts to affect ebay shipping.

Hi @mountain-cackleberries . This began in January.

You can add a handling fee to your listing to cover the charge, or if you use flat ship costs then just increase your ship cost. The fee for Ground Advantage is $7.50 and the fee for Priority Mail is $15.00.

@mountain-cackleberries

If you Google "usps charge for shipping hatching eggs 2025", it brings up a lot of information about a $15.00 per box fee for live and perishable items that was implemented this past January 2025.

It doesn't really matter when they started doing it, Just the fact of it is they are doing it, & you need to add that into your shipping cost & explain to your customers the reason behind it. Or consider selling different product.

Yes, as mentioned....add the $15 as a handling charges.  State in your listing's description that "shipping now includes USPS' $15 perishable handling fee"
